    #814399 - 08/13/02 06:26 AM (21 years, 7 months ago)

Hey.. I'm a bit puzzeled here.. how many "lobs" has a T. pachanoi? I've bought a cactus that looks very much like one, it's got 5 "lobs", but they are not very rounded.. perhaps because it was grown from seeds and not cuttings.. Sorry i cant post any pics.. The top bit has the "lobs" more pronouced..

Are you talking about the ridges? If that's what you mean, most Pedros have 6 ridges, but five are not uncommon, it depends on the strain of cacti. 4 ridges have also been found, and they are prized plants, sort of like finding a 4 leaf clover. Most Pedros have 6 ridges though.

i have a dozen pedro?s, and they start from 5 to 9 ridges, depending on the genetic and age/growing conditions....
you should look for other particulars beside the number of ridges.
this is a small pedro

That's not a pedro. If I had to guess I'd say that was a Trichocereus terscheckii... could possibly be a peruvianusI suppose. How many ribs does it have?

The spikes of mine are much more smaller, and, when looking from above, it looks like a kind of pentagon.. the ribs are not to rounded at the bottom, but are more rounded on the top growth...
