leaving to colonate
    #8142695 - 03/13/08 06:31 PM (16 years, 10 months ago)

Hey all i have a quick question, i am growing with a mycobag and a strain of p cubensis and am going out of town for a week pretty soon. I wanted to knock up the bag in between the inside of bag and the contents so i can see it then mash it up, put it in a dark closet at about 74-77 and leave it for a week until i get back from my trip, hoping its almost colonized or halfway and ready to get mashed again...

would this be a good idea? or should i just wait til i get back so i can watch it throughout the week and take care of it better? does it really matter? thanks...

Knock it up, stick it in the cupboard, leave it to it's own devices and enjoy your trip.
It knows what to do and it's hungry.

No need to "mash up" the bag if it's colonizing well. I also don't suspect that it will be half way colonized in a weeks time unless you used a lot of inoculant. Most mycobags are set-and-forget. Inject your spores, wait 3-4 weeks and introduce to fruiting conditions.
