you've looked all over this site and the entire web and can't find any information on fruiting chambers?
search for "shotgun FC" in the search field in the upper right corner of this page

I tried the one in the video and didnt work. Doesnt look like it has a lot of humidity and my cakes turned blue. I have a gauge in there and it read 99 but there wasnt any moisture on the sides like the video instructed there would be. I then decided to buy 2 15Qt tubs hoping there would be a different way I could make these 2 into FCs. I am trying to find out if there is a way of maybe doing it without putting holes in the container so it retains moisture better, then Ill fan by hand. Maybe this should have been the original question. Would this work?

your gauge read 99% and you didn't trust it? why? were there beads of water on it?

Yes, but nothing on the sides of the conatainer. I trusted it until my cakes turned blue. I figured Id feel them and they felt dry.

In my martha right now the humidity is 98 percent and there is no beads of water anywhere to be found. The only water is on the shelves directly above the cool mist and thats because they are being hit with mist. And its only right above the humidifier. To the right and left of the path the shelves are bone dry, as are the walls.
I always read RR stuff saying the beads of water are not indicators of the humidity, but temp difference between the FC and outside. I dont know if this is the same case with tubs but thats what he says for Marthas from what I have read.
So I dont worry about the beads

And I was assuming the beads were from me misting the container and cakes.

hygrometers are worthless. i have done experiments using 4 different hygrometers purchased from home depot and walmart and the difference between them were over 20 points
don't trust your hygrometer unless you have a good analog one that has been calibrated.
are you sure you are using enough perlite, it sounds like that is your problem.

i have about 3 inches on the bottom. i thought about this too. another thing I questioned was if i have too many holes in the container.
