a few questions from first timer.

This is my first post, but Ive been lurking in the shadows for months now. Ive done tons of research and think everything is pretty well laid out. I like to think all the vets on here who work hard to get good info to noobs like me. So basically my plan is to run a mini greenhouse setup. Now I know must of you will say you gotta crawl before you walk, but like i said Ive put literally 100s of hours of research into this and have already done most of the legwork. I dont have a camera so I cant post pics for a TEK, but its a pretty wicked setup if i do say so myself, complete with hepa filter on my FAE fan and an internal ultrasonic which will run on a repeat cycle timer. I currently have 20lbs of WBS and 3lbs of RYE spawn bags going in a TIT incubator at 83-84 degrees, HPOO is in route. Now on to the questions. Like I said I have 20lbs WBS (4, 5lbs bags) and 1, 3lbs bag of RYE. They were purchased through one of the sponsors here and are presterlized. I injected them all with 2cc of a spore syringe (all the same syringe) also purchased from a board sponsor. Its been 11 days and the RYE has myc growing like crazy. 2 of the WBS bags are also coming along well, but 2 have no growth at all. Why is this? All bags were inoculated with the same syringe it would seem to me to be impossible that 2 just refuse to grow. Ive even moved the WBS around to see if perhaps the myc was just growing on the inside, but nothing so far as I can tell. I have also rearranged the bags in the TIT to just to make sure they are getting even heating. Now my second question is more of a numbnuts one. Last night I accidentally turned off my heater and the temp in my TIT dropped about 10 degrees for 24 hours. Will everything be alright? Im pretty sure its ok, but just need some reassurance. thanks, -Mushymadness-

so for your 100s of hours of research, you missed all of the threads and posts about NOT incubating bags? Bags are helped by good air flow and room temperature. Colonizing myc creates a bit of warmth on its own, so an incubator is probably unnecessary if not harmful.

1. Sometimes you won't see spore germination for 2 weeks. Did you shake the syringe before inoculation?
2. You should be okay, as long as you didn't reach thermal death (106f). Might have confused the mycelium though.

The bags don't need airflow. They're just colonizing. All of my WBS jars are standard tops. No holes or filter. They colonize fine. Like darkstrand said, you should be fine as long as you didn't reach thermal death.

sorry, i should have said air flow around the bags, not in the bags.

myelination: I've heard conflicting info on incubation. Some say it's an unnecessary risk because of contams, but since the bags were purchased sterilized i figure this was not an issue and did so to cut colonization times. If it was totally worthless why are there a bunch of TIT TEKS on this site. Also this aggression will not stand man. I'm just trying to get my st!t straight no need to hate. (sarcasm is so hard to type)
Darkstrand and liszewski_88: Yes the syringe was shaken, but only before the first inoculation, not the next 4 (I don't think) and i have no idea which bag is bags is which, except that the RYE was last. As for the temps they dropped to 74 over a 24 hour period so thermal death should not be a problem.

you're the one who made it clear that you had done so much research. i pointed out areas where it was clear that you hadn't read as much as you should have. also, i wouldn't trust my own bags to be sterile let alone one prepared by someone else that i didn't know which was shipped to me through the mail. as to the TiT teks, there's tons more misinformation around here too, just ask tahoe.
to answer your original question, myc tolerates a rather large range of temperatures (~32 to ~106, according to my reading). if it's comfortable for you in a t-shirt, it's probably fine for the myc. approaching either end of their "comfort zone" will not be optimum and will grow slowly but it shouldn't harm much. stray outside of those limits and you'll probably see some death.

it shouldnt be a problem until you reach a much higher temp
I've always incubated bags on my desktop, room temp, had great luck in doing so, shut off the heater in yours and things will go smooth, make sure the bags have room to expand
