    #812069 - 08/12/02 04:00 AM (22 years, 6 months ago)

i keep reading the pf tek, and it recommends using half pint jars. has anyone had any success with the use of pint jars? i only ask because i have a bunch of pint jars, and if i can use them id rather. though im not opposed to buying some half pints. anyway, please....could anyone let me know if they have had any success using the pf tek method with pint jars. thanks guys, phil

i want to use the pf tek, then case the crumbled cakes.....my damn pressure cooker is NOT working, and i cant figure out exactly whats wrong. so im gonna try something else:)

yea pint jars will work... the problem is spotty coloniazation and certain areas pinning while others aren't even colonized. i would recommmend keeping the jars in the dark until they are fully colonized.

actually would you do the measurments for a hlf pint jar and just use the one pint jar...or would you fix the amounts accordingly?

I dont know about anyone else but with me, using pint jars and brf/verm, took FOREVER to colognize, then it didnt even finish the very bottom section. It was about 3 to 4 weeks before I finally just birthed it and cut the part off that wasnt done. I would stick with half pints. They will go much quicker I believe. Try them both, see how long they will take to colognize, I bet it will be alot longer than your half pints. Just my opinion though.

With BRF I think the general consensus is to use the 1/2 pint jars. I innocuated my first set of jars on 7/11 with EQ. For reasons unbeknownst to me now I used full pints. Thirty-one days later they are aprx 75% colonized with pretty much the bottom left to go. I think my substrate is a hair dry as the overall colonization has slowed within the past week. So, you can use pint jars, though the the 1/2 pints grow a lot faster.

Just got done using one pints, colonized in about 3, 3 1/2 weeks which wasn't that bad. Just keep them out of light. Good Luck

dog....did either you or nirvana still use the half pint amount? or do you "double" the amount accordingly? just curious:) ive already prepared a few jars, but am running an experiment (with different waters, and slightly variable techniques) we'll see what happens:)

I'm on my first grow but my pint jars are going well.

i had 4 1/2 pint jars and had so much LC left over that i also inoculated 4 pint jars. I used the same ratios and filled to the top.  I've heard that the larger jars can stall.  I made sure to pack them loosely and this i is my result after 3 1/2 weeks.

The verm layer at the top was maybe a little generous but i'm very close to birthing them.
