So i scored a PC of of craigslist(30 bucks) my problem is that this thing has 2 pressure setting, High and Low, any idea as to what the pressure is for these settings, I called farberware and they sent me the manual via email, but it says nothing about the pressure associated with the settings.
Pic of machine pic of pc its the fpc800v by farberware
I figure the high setting is probably fine, anyone have similar experiece, i dont want to fuck around to much.

I'd go with the high setting.... I did see PC's in Walmart the other day for 50-60$ that had Pressure guages built in and fancy shit like that. *shrug* I always sterilize BRF Jars on the stove in a huge pot... always do 100%, no contams thus far
cheers

use LOW for making LC's or sterilizing equipment, use HIGH for doing jars of flour or grains. I would never have bought that thing, traditional PC's r the bomb, the new fangled electric ones just blow.. they work better as rice cookers.

Go here to see how to test those settings. http://www.fungifun.org/English/Pressure-Cooker-Test This link has a picture of a drop of water evaporating quickly off of a pressure cooker. If the low setting on your cooker doesn't evaporate a drop of water as quickly then use the high setting.

Ya i plan on making some LC's with is, i dont see why it wouldn't work fine as long as i can get an accurate idea as to the pressure settings, It's pretty retarted that the manual doesn't have the pressure settings.

Hey mana, really appreciate your link, that seems like a really good idea, the only problem is the top of this pc doesnt have direct access to the top of th lid for safety reasons, it has a plastic covering type thing. I guess ill just make 2 batches of LC and see what happens.
