really fast rye colonization

i started some quart jars of rye going a while back. they are completely colonized in about 7 days. no shaking, the mycelium just went nuts. has anyone heard of quarts being colonized that quickly?
i did change up the procedure/contents just a bit and i am wondering if that is the reason. my first jar took almost three weeks to colonize with straight rye.
i am going to do some experiments and see if i can pin down exactly what caused these guys to colonize so quickly and then post results.
i will divulge that they were nocced with honey LC that i have growing in a jar.

I've had jars colonize in 10 days with no shaking, think it was rye, as a matter of fact. I've had WBS colonize at close to that with no shaking.
Millet seems to dry out faster than larger grains, so I'll go for WBS that's heavy on milo when I can.
And, it's always possible that the white fluffy stuff is a contam. I've done grows (which colonized very quickly) that produced a fungus I didn't intend to grow... and didn't figure it out until the fruiting stage.

i seriously doubt this is contamination.
i am going to do some experiments in order to eliminate variables and post the results. it may take a couple of weeks to get it all together, but i think it should be interesting.

Don't know what caused that speedy colonization(hope its not contams). But Ill bet the reason your last one took three weeks was due to inadequat moisture content.
