Not sure what your financial situation is, but I'd say come to Canada, get some cheap education (you'll pay twice what I pay, but its still dirt cheap compared to everywhere else). So yeah, come to Manitoba (not the nicest place in Canada but pretty quiet and the cheapest university). Get a 3 or 4 year arts degree, and get a Visa to work while you do it. Then by the end of that 4 years you'll have a good shot at applying for citizenship, a cheap degree, and a taste for how you like Canada.
The other option is to get a Visa and a job working the chairlifts at a resort in Alberta or BC, they usually don't pay that well but they provide accommodations for their employees.

I salute you Sir. America will be a better place without you.

Ditto. I live near the vermont border in the middle of nowhere and I fucking love it here. You'd think being in the middle of nowhere the drug scene would be really lame but I swear its just as good as in the city if not better seeing as the cops down here are the laziest fucking pricks you've ever met, they litrally go outta there way to not find anything.
Toronto is a really chill place too, beautiful in the summer. I'd love to live there if it weren't for all the pollution.
But yeah gettin through the border can be a real problem especially if you've had a DUI.

I'm a dual citizen and have lived and worked in both countries. I prefer the US... well, VT at least
The universal health care in Canada rocks, but it exists because of the ridiculous rate of taxation up there
Also, whoever alluded to it being a myth that the crime rate is lower up there, they're wrong... it's a reality... especially when it comes to violent crime. In every Canadian city I've ever been in, I'd walk alone at 2 AM down any street anywhere. And never lock the door if I'm home or if only going out for a short while.
That's why I like VT... it's a lot like Canada

I'd say, Canada is interresting Far west and Far east. West Coast, East Coast. Ontario is cool too, but I don't really like it.

The taxation isnt that bad, considering we dont have the health insurance costs as we dont have to pay them and even if after that the amount we pay a year is slightly higher to me at least it is well worth the peace of mind

When you take all the different taxes into account in Canada ... higher income tax, provincial sales tax, GST, the high tax rate buried in alcohol and gas prices, etc... it really adds up
I do miss the free health care, but I don't miss all that

I do agree the alcohol is way cheaper in the states, I must admit sometimes I hope across the border into new york to get some beer 24's here can get like 40 bucks which is wacko. but taxes seem to be lowering and some provinces dont even have pst so move to one of those provinces

I just noticed you're in Ottawa. I just moved here from there a few years ago. What part of town you in? I lived the last several years on Gladstone near Lyon but I've lived all over the city.

Michael Moore is annoying, deeply biased and exploitative.

Murders (yearly) US: 43 per 1 million people Canada: 15 per 1 million people
Assaults US: 7569 per 1 million people Canada: 7118 per 1 million people
Burglaries US: 7100 per 1 million people Canada: 8944 per 1 million people
I live in a city known for violence, but I don't feel unsafe. There are definitely streets I don't want to walk down at 2am, but none anywhere close to me. People here generally leave their doors unlocked while they are home.

Yea I pretty much feel safe wherever I go but I wouldn't be walking around jane/finch or parkdale at 2 in the am and expect it to be a welcoming place.
Also BC has one of the highest suicide rates. So many people go out west to find dreams of getting high and snowboarding all day or hiking in the mountains only to realize its expensive as fuck and no one is paying good money for talentless bums. Thus, .

i agree
although if you look at americas situation objectively and dont watch tv or go to shopping malls then things start to dawn on you and things get pretty heavy
as for conspiracy theories
what superpower has not made unlawful and unjust decisions behind the backs of the people
the country is run by corporations
and the government lies to us
its obvious
as far as the details go...i cant be sure
that, i think, is the scariest part
no one can be sure whether the government had a hand in 9/11 or not
or whether the government is brainwashing people
but i wouldnt rule it out unless i see proof denying it
i dont know about you but i tend to not take rich white old guys' words for it
