Seems that these days we live in a debt culture. What level of debt do you tolerate? how does being in debt make you feel? do you believe being in debt can be part of a responsible life, or should it be avoided it at all costs? How has debt affected your life?

I hate being in debt, but... hey it happens. It makes me feel behind, constantly. It's a responsible part of life, if you are responsible with it that is (my bf's ex-wife is in 25,000 dollars of debt i.e.: not responsible). All utilities and any credit cards have to be in my name due the ex-wifeage, but I knew this going in, so it's not a complaint.

I have no legitimate debt, everything I have is paid for, paid cash, I detest the banking industry so I've never had a loan to acquire debts the IRS claims I owe them $200k but they cant seem to show proof of that debt

At my age I do not tolerate debt, I pay my credit cards off every month. Bills are all in my name, I pay the rent out of my account. I owe my mother about 3,000$ but that is interest free and was caused by legal action, since I was 18 I have spent about 11,000$ in court fines/legal fees/and hoop jumping. I have payed her all that back before and am planning on being off the debt wagon again in about 3 months.
It can be a part of a responsible lifestyle but it all depends on where you are in life, right now I don't need debt other then my legal shit which will be over soon.

I'm in a lot of debt from college loans... I fucking hate it. I think if there was one thing I could change about my life it would be not being in debt. I don't know how long I'm planning on sticking around stateside and I hate knowing that I'm in debt.
Makes me want to drop out of college so as to not accrue any more debt... work a few years to pay it off. Live very cheaply and just put a shitload of money towards getting rid of the debt.
Then after that, I dunno, figure something out... join the peace corps maybe.
All my friends tell me I could be a famous musician, but I don't know... I don't think I'm very good at all (compared to the musicians I admire). But that would be awesome. Maybe I should try my hand at playing some local gigs or something.

Looked at the US's foreign debt, lately? Other nations are investing in Euros, the greenback is tumbling.
I can't see all shit going to serious hell, but it's a wake-up call. You get what you don't pay for.
