Pan Cyans & Let's Grow Mushrooms DVD
    #8123994 - 03/09/08 04:54 PM (16 years, 10 months ago)

I am going to attempt to grow Pan Cyans, despite it being my first time growing mushrooms. I am trying to follow along with the DVD 'Let's Grow Mushrooms'. It makes the instructions very easy to follow even if I only get a superficial understanding of what is going on. I've been reading different teks also on how to grow the Pan Cyans but because everyone seems to have their own methods it makes things more confusing... so I am trying to stick to RR's methods...

In the video RR shows how to pasteurize horse manure substrates and following that he showed the spawning procedure laying everything in a baking tray. But during the spawning procedure he pulled out an already colonized jar (I think of portobello mushrooms). So I am a little confused here. Should I inoculate jars with Pan Cyan spore syringes in grain first?

After that he says let everything sit for about ten days then apply the casing layer (I will follow his chapter on casing layer preparation) then after you can see about 20% mycelium growth place it in a fruiting chamber. Now can the fruiting chamber be exactly the same one he created in chapter one – the sterilite plastic storage box with holes drilled in it with a layer of perlite on the bottom? If so, when ready do I then just place baking tray uncovered into the terrarium? I know I have to do some slight modifications with things like temperature but overall does this make sense and will it work for those who are familiar with the DVD and Pan Cyans?

Thanks.

spores inoculate grain, when colonized, spawn to manure, when colonized, case with casing soil, mist and fan until pins form, then just fan until mature

If you want to end up with pan cyan you have to use pan cyan spores
You colonize grain in jars. spawn to manure in trays. fruit trays in rubbermaids
You can colonize manure and fruit in the same rubbermaid just don't mist or fan during colonization of manure and casing layer
