what kind of poppies are these?

I found an entire field of these babies, pris suggested that they were california poppies. just wondering if anyone had some different opinions, id love to have found myself a nice treat
|

iunno, poppies arent my thing, i just live in ca so ive seen a few poppies

now that you mention, they dont seem like poppies, i was mainly going on the color and petals

well its very early in season, im guessing they are going to get quite a bit bigger.
if not poppies, any guesses what they are? just some wild flower?

As far as I can tell from the picture, it looks like some type of Mallow (Desert Mallow?).
