Questions
    #8121347 - 03/08/08 09:18 PM (16 years, 10 months ago)

I have read alot of different things on temp but my 2 questions are. Can I fruit and icubate in a 70 degree room? I know fruiting needs a temp change but would it really matter that much in this case? Also if I have old brown rice flower, could I still use it even though its a month away from expiring or should I just go buy some new stuff
?

I wouldn't worry about the temperatures too much. I exclusively let my jars colonize at that same temperature and then induce fruiting conditions with the same temperatures. The only drawback to that is that colonization takes a wee bit longer, but if you can keep yourself from peeking 2 to 3 times a day and just leave them in a closed sterlite tub for at least a week, you should be fine. Pinning triggers are 1. full colonization of substrate. 2. Plenty of Fresh Air Exchange. 3. High Humidity. 4. Proper lighting cycles. (Although the least influential element, still helps.)

If your BRF has been properly stored it should be good to go. I would use it.

Like Shroomy said, temps ain't the biggest problem.
Plenty of people are afraid of them to ruin their grows, but as a matter of fact, the only thing that happens at lower temps is the process to be little slower.

It has some advantages on the other hand, since lower temps ain't as good for molds and bacteria as higher ones are, which can be essential for beginners.
