NEW OUTDOOR TEK
    #812113 - 08/12/02 06:51 AM (14 years, 4 months ago)

Hey i just put some fully colonized cakes (new ones) outside. I buried them about a foot under the ground in a shady spot. didn't have cow shit or straw.. so i filled the hole in with werm/brf.and wastered. hopefully it will work. it's the perfect itme of year in florida for shrooms. Anyone ever tried this?? lemme know what u think

i have never tried anything outdoors (yet) however i remember reading that when you place BRF outside weather it is in the ground or a pot, it is a huge attractor for contams! Im not definate on this but im sure some other vets will know for sure.

Good luck though!

Contams will probably over rule it. You could try covering it with dirt but I don't think that will help too much. Since it is only brf and verm there will be not much air for it to live on so by the time it starts to grow contams are already kicking its ass. Just imagine a cake the size of the hole you dug colonizing in a jar with the lid off underneath the toilet with no verm to protect it from contams even ... that?s basically the situation.
But hey maybe it will make it through...
Good luck!!

Unfortunatly there is a 0% chance your outdoor patch will survive. It will be overrulled my contams in 2 days.

Why would anyone throw not spent cakes outside?

Just fruit your cakes in a terrarium!! don't bury them.. what a waste. bury them when they've had a few flushes.

PLANT IT IN A POT FULL OF DAMP POTTING SOIL- (oops sorry about the caps) and then cover with saran wrap with 2 or 3 small holes in it - then wait about a week
