Considering that is a 27 pound block, yeah sure.
But how much coir do you really want to use?

shipping costs just about as much as the brick of coir... the stuff is pretty cheap anyway, i get blocks of good organic coir for like $1.50 each at my local co-cop.

i searched and couldnt find a cheaper price for the same amount of coir. i like buying everything in bulk so i dont have to get it all the time.
i buy my rye 50lbs at a time for 18 bucks. i might start buying in 100lbs at a time though
i get 20lbs of verm at a time for 15 dollars. thats enough for a long time.
but i cant find coir. at least a bulk amount for a decent price

Are you sure that you want a huge brick? Cutting it up is a pain in the ass in my opinion, unless you just use it all at once, of course.
Anyway, I like to use froogle.com for buying common household crap off of the internet. It compares the prices of different online vendors, and I've used it to find good deals on coir in the past. kalyx.com had a good deal the last time I ordered some, but I don't know if it is still the same price.

3 pack of echo earth coir from the reptile stores here is only $8.99
each block expands to 7-8 liters (one of the two)

yea funny thing I was having trouble finding coir at my pet store and now they stock it. Unfortunately I already used the rough less processed stuff on my first grow. I have noticed that for coir though Shipping will kill you if you can find it local your much better off.

IDK, I read something about not using that type of coir (for plants) because they put some stuff in there that you dont want? I know you're going to pasteurize and whatnot but still. I was told to use the stuff for reptile cages only. Plus that is way more than I could use in a couple sittings even, I will stick to the 3 pack of eco-earth for 9 dollars at my local petsmart.

the important part is to look on the package and make sure it's made of coconut husks. I've never heard this bit about garden coir being bad. If it were not for the lack of nitrogen coir would be a good gardening soil. It's odd that garden coir does not come in compressed bricks premixed with coffee grounds.

cocnut fibers is golden brownish hairs. a bunch of strands.
and what we need. is coco coir. i think also called cocopeat. it has a earthy dirt like consistancy when hydrated and breaks apart easy.
