painting car speaker
    #8116350 - 03/07/08 03:04 PM (16 years, 2 months ago)

there is this piece of plastic in my car on the door the plastic has yellowed over time. i then proceeded to test out the colors i picked and the tweeter on the back was riveted and glued on, and there was a grill in front of the speaker i could see clear through to the speaker. i then spray painted it nothing seems wrong but before i paint the rest, is it bad for the speaker to do this

carefully paint the grill, but do not get paint on the actual speaker. that will ruin the sound.

painting the speaker very likely will ruin the various adhesives holding the various finely tuned components of a decent driver together.

not to mention the overall distortion or, at best, reconfiguration of dynamics from altering the surface properties of the drivers.

there is a reason you haven't seen designer color speaker drivers en masse. while it would be possible to use materials of a certain color to fabricate speakers it would be an exercise in futility to try and paint existing drivers to a preferred color.
