In the midwest you will find that most "Farmer's Markets" are open air and set up one day a week in a common meeting place. For instance, in Madison WI, the farmers market is set up around the capital building. It only exists on Sundays (IIRC). hell, most of them only exist June-September.
In Elkhart IN they have a pole barn "farmers market" and lots of local farmers do business there but the rules are much more lenient and lots of out-of-state folks do business there. But, in general, in an open air farmers market you must grow your produce in state it is being sold.

your distributors? sounds like exactly what you say isnt happening is happening and you're a part of it
You misread and or misinterpreted and or misrepresented what I wrote.
I don't resell anything at the farmers market.

You are right sir, the heavy metals are being mixed with human waste by big corporations dumping their toxic waste in the sewer systems.
So there is no way to separate the human waste from the industrial waste. Yet this mixture (sludge) is being used to fertilize our crops.

In my college town, we had a store that called itself "The Farmers Market". It was a produce outlet store. I have no idea where they got their stock but it was.... sketchy. I found packaged goods months past expiration, moldy produce. I bought some roma tomatoes that looked good and firm, but the next morning they were a blob of red goo. They must rotate stock on a quarterly basis.... yuck.
But before I went to bed last night I checked out that website for the dekalb market. That looks like a very interesting place, it kinda reminds me of Jungle Jims up in Cinci. It says they started as a "Farm Stand". According to their mission statement, they are a pretty ethical grocery store. They don't buy from wholesalers or distributors because as far as I can tell they are a wholesaler. They call themselves the farmers market because they buy from the farmers or processor. If you look closely you will find a page designed for restaurateurs and caterers for bulk orders.

Yeah we are. We aren't animals.
The different between humans now, and then.. is they didn't eat so much processed shit. The amount of preservatives and toxic chemicals we consume these days is insane, and it comes out in our shit.
Yeah, if you eat nothing but organic food fresh from your garden... you can use your own shit to fertilize it. But if you eat any of those processed shit out there, your shit is most likely deadly and toxic.

the sewage process makes the waste less toxic through biological action accelerated by mechanical agitation and aeration.
All the stuff nature can remove or fix with the help of artificial and ideal conditions is fixed and the water is dumped into the ocean or rivers. whats left cannot be considered "human waste" It ought to be considered the toxic chemical cocktail byproduct of industry in the human body.
all the toxins, heavy metals, indigestibles, and otherwise uncommon elements that we consume or improperly dispose of in tiny amounts end up here, concentrated.
these nasty elements get back into us faster when we use them to fertilize our foods and foods of our livestock (whose waste ALSO goes to fertilize our foods)
MOST of these harmful items are originally introduced to us where we work and in the products we consume as residual industrial waste.
these chemicals, in combination with our established and efficient system of zoned agriculture and specialization in farming KEEP is in the human food system. and poison the land at the same time.
Higher level fishes also bring these elements back to the fold as food. when we eat tuna, shark, etc, we are eating an animal that is the culmination of the bioprocess beginning at the smallest filter-feeders.
the point is, that poisons of industry find a way in, and they never REALLY get out.
even in incineration, they are returned to earth in the rain.
these chemicals exist in the earth in isolated concentrations and inactive forms.
we utilize them to create things, and facilitate their dispersal across the land and into systems that they become stuck in.
We are poisoning the land. we are at fault, every single one of us. you can't lay blame and you cant really do anything about it, we aren't really individuals anymore.
were the cells of a larger creature with a huge chemical dependency, and we are merely the collateral tissue damage that is born of access.
we are meth-pustules, smokers-lungs, flaccid dicks complaining that we cant stand up for ourselves. policy and government is the impotent mask over this superlord being we nourished and raised. The government looks to create the belief of improvement and sustainability without ever taking a single step that would in any way interfere with the grand process of subjugating the world to the direct benefit of human consumption.
we should all die.
this is sorta where Hayao Miyazaki was going with "Kaze no Tani no Nausicaa"
but sadly i doubt it will all be so poetic.
i see cancers, birth defects, wars over resources, suicides, crippling economic declines, extinctions, corruption of life itself. This is how our world ends, slowly, sickly, and without actually ending.

Very true. The smaller the mouth, the safer the fish. I had a college professor that did studies on bio-accumulation in whitefish on Indian Reservations in northern WI. His recommendation was that any woman planning on having children NEVER eat fish. He advised that men have little consequences to worry about. Going back to what Pris said, you don't know whats in your food. My professor also found DDT in these watersheds. Residual DDT doesn't show up 30 years after it was banned. Someone or someones up there had a few barrels left over and was still using it.
