How Persians are depicted in comparison to the Greeks
    #8107894 - 03/05/08 07:50 PM (16 years, 26 days ago)

I find it funny that in modern day media, most notably of course that movie 300, the Persian empire is being shown as savage and wild. And the Greeks as noble and civil.

When you can just easily look at their religions and see the opposite.

The ancient greeks, their gods/goddesses were dozens of immature adults, committing mischevious deeds, toying with the human race, competing with eachother, fooling around, causing mayhem and wonders.

The Persian religion at the time was Zoroastrianism. Their gods behaved like gods. Speaking the truth and righteousness were integral. Tolerance of other beleifs, a struggle between good / evil, et cetera.

Compare the two, check out Zoroastrianism for yourself (Modern religions seem to mimic this), and who looks more civil then the other?

But then look at a movie like the 300, and watch how the Persians are shown: evil, without beleifs, demonic.

What do you think?

It should also be noted that 300 is based off of a comic book. Do you have any more examples of this happenin?

I don't think we should use 300 as an example anyhow, there was all sorts of crazy shit going on in that movie. Crazy little cripple people havin sex with 5 tittied women in gold pyramids. Ghost banshees trained in martial arts, you get the point

'What do you think?'

I think these mutherfuckers have been trying to paint their bullshit into reality since the beginning.
First with oral tales, then ashen symbols on cave walls, then word and image propaganda pamphlets, now that ever brighter and bigger LCD or plasma screen complete with 5.1 surround and subs that shake the ground.
If it ain't so it ain't so. It is my opinion that the internet will let us know.
If every thought system has a page during this next age you could probably consult this cyberspatial virtual sage.
