toilet paper tek!

well, this was an experiment i had in mind, first i got some hay, put it in a blender, some de-cobbed corn, put that in the blender, and 2 vitamin pills, put those in as well, added some water, blended well, put it in a pot and boiled it for a while on highest setting, got a roll of TP, cut in in half horizontilly, took out the cardboard roll, wetted it so as to not burn it when i sterilized it in the microwave, sterilized it for about 5 min, then dunked it into the nutrient rich hay-corn-vita-water, re-microwaved it, tossed it into a hard plastic locking container, waited til cool, then tossed in a bit of colonized birdseed, and a few days later i notice the mycellium seems to be taking, after it gets fully colonized, if it does, i will re dunk it, and hope it flushes

i'll takes pics in a few days after the mycellium takes on more of its new home

that tek should work fine i tried it,only drawback is that it takes more time for the mycelium to colonize the paper and longer for pins to start growing.
you wont get a lot of shrooms (though the ones you get might be pretty big )out of that tek but it is a fun thing to experiment with.
and paper dont eaven need to be sterilized,contams dont like paper all that much
have fun growing.

ya, i thought i didnt have to sterilize it, but u cant be too carefull, and i may not get alot of shrooms from it, but hey, i didnt have to pay for the toilet paper

About 1 week ago I made a container with spent pieces of a Puerto Recan casing.
Mixed some coir in and some vermiculite and ofcourse a heafty amount of shredded toilet paper.
Here's the catch though.
The container I've used was not sterilised, not cleaned.
The spent casing was starting to contaminate and the toilet paper had been sitting next to my incubator for a while.
So proof that sterile isn`t always better.

Been checking on it everynow and then.
Working like a charm, good rizhimiphoric growth and almost totally colonised, going to spawn a tub of poo-straw.
So I think once again proof that cubensis is one of the easiest damn Mushrooms to grow.
I`ll post some pics tomorrow as well.
