So I already have 2 mushies that have their veil torn, only thing is, they are just over 1" tall! I thought theyd get much bigger than this because isnt this the sign to pick them?
Is it just the strain Im growing (Thai) or something I did? I have polyfill in holes along with fanning probably 5 times a day. I also have 1.5" layer of perlite on the bottom of the FC.

1.5" of perlite is not nearly enough, try more like 5"! I'm betting lack of moisture is the issue... How deep is your substrate?

What are you using for substrate? If you cased a couple of PF cakes, don't expect monsters.

Its not the strain. Before the mushroom pops up, a hormonal thingy predetermines how big the shroom gonna be. You need more water and bigger substrate to get bigger shrooms. I have had shrooms like that before. Don't fan 5x a day. If you have pollyfill in the holes, fanning once a day is ok. Just make sure the thing is dripping with water. Always. Good luck!

Next time do 3-5 inches of well drained perlite.

Small mushrooms are caused by one or more of the following: Too small a substrate or too thin a casing layer, improper substrate or ph level for the species, or too little moisture in the substrate or casing layer. The latter is most often the cause. RR

Off topic, but I'd suggest avoiding aluminum foil under your substrate. The mycelium will 'consume' the foil as you will see when you remove it. The foil will be full of holes that the mycelium has eaten. Metals absorbed by the mycelium will end up in fruitbodies, and aluminum has been implicated in alzhimers and other conditions. Just use a dark tray to avoid pinning on the bottom. RR

RR retracted the statement that the fruitbodies absorb metals. At least, not enough to cause any harm:

True. Aluminum doesn't seem to be absorbed into the fruits even though the metabolites disolve it.
Fruit size is mostly related to substrate size and moisture content. More moisture, larger fruits. However, lots of smaller fruits are better in my experience. Large mushrooms are definitely overrated. RR

Would imagine this was due to humidity (RH level) and the substrate depth. I say dunk the casing after harvesting what you have and keep it much more humid in the FC.
