outdoor cubensis
    #807870 -

my friend buried a spent casing somewhre and he went to the location it was buried and there was a small bunch of mushrooms that popped up... he wants to know if these are ok to eat because they seemed to be much more dense and solid compared to the indoor flushes... dried them out and it was 7 grams dried.. so it was a good score... the caps were very cracked probably because of the dry air outside.. he's sure they're cubensis because they blued and they were basically growing right off the casing that was buried.

Is there any reason they would not be ok to eat?

SixCee, this is true but the bugs are usualy visible and if they are not, then what does it hurt? insects are composed almost entirely of protien and therefore are almost entirely clean. as far as micro-organism's the odds are on your side as, once established, the mycelium has the upper hand and most micro-organisms that would be verry harmfull would aslo likely prevent the mushrooms from fruiting and maturing.

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it.
If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.

Eat 'em up. Fresh outside cubies are quite tasty, bugs or no .
