FC question

Hello all, first post and first attempted cultivation. Getting my FC all set up seeing as how I've got good Myc growth going. I'm using styrofoam cooler (went cheap since it's my first grow) with a ultrasonic humidifier running in. I've gotten it set up so I can currently keep the humidity between 85-95% and also have holes punched to allow more FAE. The question is, should I put a Layer of damp perlite on the bottom, damp vermiculite, nothing, etc. What would be best?
Also, the humidifier tends to keep the chamber pretty cool ~65F-70F. Will this drastically slow the growth or only marginally?

I'd think that if you've determined the proper temp and humidity to be up to spec I'd just find a tray of some sort, cat litter pan, tupperware ect that would fit in the cooler and skip the rest.
I believe by casing your sub in that pan will also help to raise humidity but as far as proper c02 expulsion I'll leave it to someone else to say.
As far as temp goes, I've been reading alot that the temp range you've specified is ideal considering the mycelium will omit heat of it's own all while being low enough to help trigger pinning.
But I'm the noob of all noobs but I saw no one posted some info for you. BTW, try the search thing when you get no instant advice. You might find what you're looking for, I always find contradictory or year old info..

Just my opinion...
Get rid of the humidifier. Make sure you have LOTS of holes in the styrofoam cooler (like 20 1/4" holes per ft^2). Put a few inches of moistened perlite (no standing water, just wet the perlite, drain it, and then put it in) in the bottom. Mist liberally. Definitely no verm in bottom, it doesn't serve the purpose like perlite. RR discusses this here:
http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/6610766#6610766
That being said, the conditions you state seem fine. I just wouldn't complicate things on your first grow. Are they cakes or casings? Good luck!

If you have an ultrasonic humidifier running into it, you should have enough RH. You can add a layer of perlite if you want to but I don't think it will do much more than what your UH will do. I would leave it like you have it and add nothing, but that's just me.

They will grow just fine. I highly doubt that you will see a huge difference if you up the temps to 80*F, you might see a little change, but not much. They sould be fine= I have fruited them at even lower temps than that(50*F), but I don't recomend that.
You will be ok

This post brings up many issues I have thought about during various grows.
I did the original PF tek .... maybe 13 years ago with an cooler and ultrasonic humidification with success (sounds like what you are doing).
Then discovered this site and have successfully done hydroton aquarium pump style FCs (pmp?), shotgun RR style perlite humidified FCs and monotubs ..... and have gone back and forth.
My personality goes against the 'set and forget' as I am always peeking, fiddling, peeking and trying to maximize the pinset ..... misting, fanning ...... and it is tough as I am out of town a lot.
"Tyranny of the Terrarium" ! as described in the orig. tek ...... so again I am seeking the "Fully Automated Shroom Factory".
I am thinking some form of passive humidification .... like shotgun and perlite ..... with bursts of humidity and FAE (could be accomplished with ultrasonic or cool mists on timers .... Agar has some nice posts on blower, fogger bulk humidification) which would provide some sort of automated misting and fanning .... might work for you.
It's like doing a greenhouse in a storage bin or multiple storage bins. (Akira was doing some neat work with big bins).
Rambling post.
Good luck

I plan on doing cakes but I can prolly only fit maybe 4 in the FC I have set up. I might case the rest and incubate while the cakes are in the styrofoam FC. Either that or I might just hold out and grow 3 seperate sets of 4 cakes and alter the FC each time to see what works best for me.
Thanks for all the input much appreciated
