Actually that tek looks very interesting, ill be researching it and trying it soon
They should last at least 2 months if not longer... if sterile.

Once it thickens to your liking, you can refridgerate it. It will stall the growth and last for longer.

LC's will last for months(I know for a fact that my LC's will last for over 8 months will no ill effects) if prepared properly. They may even last for a year or more if stored in a cooler and kept from freezing, as long as they have the food to nurish them while they are being stored. This is from my own experience from using LC's. I have an LC right now that was made on 8/18/07 and it is still kicking it in high gear
As long as the mycelium has the food and water it will last as long as the food will. That's why I add 3 tbls to 600ml of water when I make my L's, so they have the food to keep it alive.

One problem:
The syran rap allows some steam to escape. Upon cooling, a vacuum is made. When the needle is inserted, the container is going to seek equilibrium and suck in a bunch of un-sterile air.
The only way I see around it is to fill the syringe with sterile air and insert that into the container. Not to tough. Just a warning.

I did encounter this problem but I had the AC off, windows closed. Sterile as me and my environment can be. My friends and I have use this tek to make 500+cc of Amazonian. I used a syringe 20cc syringe that was taken from one of these LC tubs dated 11/1/08. Inoculated 20 jars, their in the incubator now and I couldn't be happier with the results. Just be sterile, I guess
