definatly short of 100 yards, quite short of 200+ meters.

Your all full of shit :fishsmack:

that's the distance for killing a a human, not a balloon

here's the same shot, open sights with a .45

same guys shooting a quarter, open sights, .45acp

I am a competitive shooter. I shoot with a 9mm and im ganna tell you, it's not impossible at all to hit a target at 100 yards. I can hit a target center ring 1/4 times at that distance.

theres a reason in your videos the guy is using a 45.
Funny thing you didnt find one of him shooting a 9mm.

And I have been shot at from 70 yards or so. I wasnt hit, niether was my friend. It sounded like a 9mm.

hitting a target is all in the shooter, not the gun
the effective range of a .45 is only 75 yards and killing
a balloon at 100 yards isnt that difficult if you know how
to shoot even with a 9mm

I can hit 1/2in groups at 1000yds

Props to the rifle shooting. Ive handeled firearms my whole life and admit i havent been compeled to shoot balloons, however i have spent a thousand + hours indoors (40 yards max.) Im as good a shot as anyone in there and that target (human shilluette) is pretty elusive at 40 yards with a 9mm. I throw a round from time to time. With a rifle 40 yards in nothing. I guess if you had an exotic 9mm with a barrel + 10 inches, scope, and prolly a single shot mechinism you could be pretty accurate at 100 yards. Now that gun i just invented in my head seems more like a carbine rifle (without a butt stock), but for arguments sake it would work.

you sound like you know your shit prisioner, surley you would not dissagree that at 100 yards an iron site would cover about 6 inches worth of target? Thats alot to account for IME.

Now imagine trying to be accurate with flintlock musket or other out-dated firearm :frown:

apparently you're not that great a shot if you have a
hard time at 40 yards with a 9mm on a silhouette, ,my
63 yo mother has no problem at 50 with her airweight .38
she's best shooting from the hip.

watch the guy with the steyer walk into the frame, listen for the ring

learn your pistol, learn yourself, and know that some
people are just good shooters while others lack the
skill, I have no problem shooting at ranges, as I
mentioned before learning trajectory and windage is a
must, there's no need for enhanced optics, extra long
barrels and such, the second video was open sights at 100
yards shooting a quarter, sure it was a .45 but it was a
semiauto with a 5" barrel.

it's quite possible, the sights do cover some of the
target, again it's knowing your weapon, as for knowing my
shit, I qualified expert in rifle and pistol

Ok i made a call.. im going to the range in 2 hours with some cops, im going to see if any of them ( or our buddies that own the range ) can hit a quarter at 30+ yards. We will be shoting 9's, 40's, a 45 and just for fun an AR 15 ( if the snow isnt bad. )  Ill see if anyone can hit it in 5 shots. Not that i dont believe you pub forum experts or anything, but im sure your no better than old cops or gunsmiths that shoot more then they wack off, so its a fair test. No more e-penis measuring, im going to find out the hard way

Dont forget ive done some shooting myself, including acctual firefights :frown: not that im braging, but im breathing.

best shooter I'd ever known had a lazy eye, at 40yds he made
eyes and eyebrows on a silhouette, the range master asked
how long he's been shooting, it was his first time with a pistol

It seriously never ceases to amaze me how many people on an otherwise intelligent online community advocate the use of guns.

not that im backpeadling, but i overlooked this statement which makes alot of sence.

Let me ask this; what kindof drop does a 9mm handgun round have over 100 yards. In other words how high above the target do you have to aim in said scenario?

ive seen alot of beginers do very well on their first go. By the third or fourth trip shooting they start messing up the triger pull in anticipation. The suprize makes them good i think, but when they worry about the POp they flinch.

unrelated: i feel like i was a better marksman in my teenage years. I was definatly better with a shotgun, although im still the best shot in my family. My 18 yr old cousin is in a close second.
