craving a good hike
    #8069497 - 02/25/08 06:12 PM (16 years, 1 month ago)

I love the outdoors, but my living circumstances prevent me from hardly ever going camping or hiking
brought up in chicago burbs and now go to school in the city
sick of the bland midwest landscape

I think I'm going to plan a camping trip to the UP of michigan this summer with a few people...I really need some natural beauty and isolation from civilization

for people who its readily available to: dont take it for granted!

North shore of Superior is beautiful, and fairly close to home if your still in CHI town. Northern MN ftw

I live in the midwest too and the scenery is terrible this time of year. I'm just preparing for spring and summer backpacking trips now.

Illinois has plenty of places too hike, they have a good amount of state parks that are nothing but trails and woods

and i know they aren't far from downtown

Amen to the whole craving a hike thing. I actually booked a trip away with a lady friend in about a months time. Im so over going out and getting wasted and spending all my money, going away is definitely my new interest.

Im going here...Wilson's Promontory National Park.

Cant wait!

Its in Victoria, Australia. About 3 hours drive South East of Melbourne.

Really is unbelievable, complete isolation. They restrict how many people are aloud in the park, so there may be times where you wont see a person at your camp site for days.

The midwest is actually pretty beautiful in it's own right.

I used to hate it too, then I began to enjoy it as it was. Accept it! Love it!
