Solo trippers - How do you trip?

Hello;
Been a while since I posted here. Actually, it's been a while since I did any psychedelics at all.
I almost always trip solo (I don't know others who use psychedelics). My approach to tripping has always been heavily musically oriented. I like to do nothing other than lie in a dark room listening to hours of relaxing and lush music from a preprepared play-list. I only like to listen to music I haven't listened to before whilst tripping.
This approach has given me some mind-blowing experiences.
Of course, the problem is that after doing this a dozen or so times, I'm now running very short of new music (and I've got 100GB+ of music), which is a real problem since I'm reluctant to "re-use" music in trips (usually doesn't work out well if I do).
Personally, I couldn't even comprehend the idea of doing shrooms spontaneously; I don't think I could handle it without good preparation.
Still, with the obvious "flaw" in my approach, perhaps it's time for me to start considering alternatives for new mushroom experiences?
How does everyone else trip? I'm particularly interested in hearing about approaches to solo-tripping.
Or maybe it's about time I tried Ayahausca?

I enjoy lots of meditation during tripping. Adventures into the woods are also an intense journey into my mind. Trying Ayahuasca would be a worth-while experience, so I would definately get some of the ingreediants or save some money and go off to Peru to try that wonderful brew! Good luck with your future adventures!
-------------------- I believe with the advent of acid we discovered new way to think and it had to do with piecing together new thoughts of mind. Why is it that people think it's so evil? What is it about it that there is scares people so deeply? Because they are afraid that there is more to reality than they have ever confronted. That there are doors that they're afraid to go in and they don't want us to go in there either because if we go in, there we might learn something that they don't know. And that makes us a little out of their control.

I have the Ayahuasca ingredients (I've had them for a few months), but I'm reluctant to go at it alone (Ayahuasca should be a "group thing", right?). There is apparently a shaman nearby to where I live who runs group Ayahuasca sessions every now and then, but I'm not sure how "authentic" it is (all I have is a phone number). It's something I've been considering for a while now.
I've been shrooming in the woods once (on a low dose). It was certainly a worthwhile experience, though it got tough at times for me, and I'm not sure I got that much out of it; perhaps one I will repeat it on a nice summer day.
Funny that Salvia has always been the opposite way for me. I have no problem taking a couple hits of 30X with only a few minutes notice. It's always seemed less "serious" to me for some reason.

If you need a good album to listen to, I thoroughly and whole-heartedly recommend Calexico's "Black Light" album. Seriously. It is awesome. Nuevo border mood. Great album.. especially tripping.
I trip alone, too. Other people (unless they are the right people) tend to get in the way. I am a pretty introspective guy to begin with, so it seems only natural that I trip alone as well. I might suggest the right movie to watch. Baraka is an excellent film to watch whilst tripping. Check it out on Amazon or something. I drank like 3 grams worth of mushroom tea the other night, and Poltergeist came on... free of commercials. That is a pretty good flick. I enjoyed it. A walk outside around dusk might be in order depending on the dosage, too.
Good Luck!

Thanks for the recommendations; I have very unusual tastes in music and I've never heard of Calexico before, but it's in my download queue so I'll let you know what I think. I tend to go for abstract, happy, relaxing, atmospheric music (no lyrics - human voices connect me too firmly with reality during a trip ).
Watching a movie could be interesting; but I feel it would be too "concrete" for me during a trip. I think something like Pink Floyd's The Wall (only something less "depressing" ) could work, but I don't know too many movies like that. I've added Baraka to my download queue too; again, I've never heard of it.
I find the idea of dark silence (Terrence McKenna style tripping) to be quite interesting. I'm not sure I'd be able to handle it though; I think I'd either get bored if it wasn't up to my expectations, or go mental.

I enjoy lots of activities whilst tripping...Usually I trip solo, though the first time I tried shrooms I was with one other friend. We watched The Departed up in his room while I was having a blast looking at all the swirling and tracers and cool effects of posters on the wall. Just having a movie playing in the background in a dark room is a great thing to do while tripping. Also, I like to play some computer games if I'm shrooming. Another fun thing to do is ride a bike, or go running. When you run on shrooms, oh my god! The wind flies past your ears and sounds really cool, and your vision blurs around the edges. It feels like you're running as fast as superman almost, and you have all this energy, and not to mention looking around at all the scenery.
Being driven through a neighborhood of nice houses is always fun as well...

You have energy on mushrooms? I'm impressed. Gravity usually triples its strength for me.
Though I must say riding a bike is fun on shrooms. I did it once (when I tripped in the woods) and I was worried I wouldn't be able to do it, but it actually feels very natural and easy to do. I actually felt more aware of my surroundings than normal.
Games could be interesting I guess. Again, I think the problem is with finding the right ones; I feel there is a distinct lack of games designed for altered states (something I personally hope to change ). I tried playing Unreal Trounament 2004 once during the later phase of a trip; I had amazing accuracy in the game for the first few minutes, then I quickly got bored and couldn't play it well anymore. I guess it's not really a game for tripping. Even if I did find the right game, it would have to run on either Linux or a Wii, so not much chance of that happening.
Actually, that's just given me an idea - maybe Endless Oceans on the Wii would be cool during a trip? Not really a game; just scuba diving simulation; swimming with fish and nice ambient music. It's very relaxing when sober anyway.
I think "more involved" forms of entertainment than music are probably easier to handle with weed? I used to like it, but I'm not really much of a pot smoker anymore; it doesn't really agree with me mentall.
I reserve out-doors for low(er)-dose trips.

It really depends when I dose shrooms whether or not I have energy. If it's decent outside and light out, I'll have endless amounts of energy, it's weird...but if it's already dark when I shroom I just wanna chill inside and enjoy the visuals...
Endless ocean would sound like fun on shrooms. Perhaps playing Elder Scrolls: Oblivion on a big big television just exploring the world would be fun too, I'd imagine.
Counter-strike is fun for me when I'm tripping, but I don't play too much of it, either. I get too into the game. When I die in game, I'll flinch or spasm in my chair lol, like I've been shot.

My favourite thing to do is fill my ipod with trippy music and have some nice headphones so the sound is good, find a nice quiet place in the woods and just observe nature. The beach is a nice spot to if its not to crowded.

I ussually trip alone. On mushrooms, the three trips that I had were alone. My style seems exactly like yours Turrican. I dose, take a shower, turn off the lights, climb into bed and put in the earbuds.
And interestingly, I am beginning to face the same problem - I'm running out of music. This also leads me to another thought.
I've been looking to try other ways. I want to trip outside; during the day, during the night. I also want to hear the sounds that Earth offers - music is wonderful and I deeply love it - but it tends to stimulate the "feeling" aspect of the trip more than others. I guess that's why I love it so much in the first place.
But I want to go further. On my next trip I'm thinking that I'll go without music for some parts of the trip - probably the come up - I really like the come up on mushrooms and I'd like to pay more attention to how my state begins to change...

I love the solo trip. The wall Is an awesome album to listen to while solo tripping. It will get you thinking about crazy things. Usually I go explore than curl up on the couch with some good tunes or awesome shrooming movies.
