I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

No shit, that's awesome. I made a bunch of trebuchets in grade 5 or 6, it was awesome. Me and my dad mostly wanted to build miniature siege engines, and the "experiment" part was totally bogus and made up after the fact. I should find some pictures of them, they were actually pretty sweet, and one of them was pretty "real" looking.

I actually just found one of them in my mom's garage and I'm going to fix it up to hurl tennis balls for my dog. Because I'm not already enough of a loser at the dog park yet. Now I get to be the crazy dog lady with a treb!

hell yea, I must have been around the same grades. we pretty much had the same idea, just wanted to make something cool instead of lighting a bulb with a potato.

Oddly enough just a few years ago one of my old roomates challenged me to a "distance shoot off" I was sick so i just made a quick potato gun,but he made a 25-30 foot tall tebuche with about 300lbs of bricks for the weight, and he 'cast' his own 10-15 lb concrete balls.

I won,and the trebuche threw a few of those ball backwards into our house, hah. eventually we all teamed up on it can got it throwing pretty damn far until the main beam snapped catastrophically.

the neighbors hated us for ever. I actually still have most of the frame.
