i usually just move the actual casing layer around to cover it up instead of adding more.. i dont usually have it 100% level.

thats what i do. its a pain in the ass to pasteurize just a small amount so that you can patch just to maybe have it comtam.

If you'd do it the regular way it's really a pain in the ass!

I just nuke my layers for two minutes and only had a contam once, at a REALLY old casing.

I doubt this is the best way, but so far it has worked "perfectly" for me and it's a lot less annoying and you need a lot less energy :stoned:

Nukeing sterilizes I believe. I guess it wouldnt matter because it such a small amount.

Nuking sterilizes indeed.
Actually it's possible to sterilize materials up to a 100%, though you'd need a three dimensional rotating mechanic for it PLUS laboratory environments.

Anyway, it's not about 100 sterility anyway, so it doesn't really matter.

It works very good for me, spares me a lot of time and a lot of electricity

If your short on time, just scrape some of the casing away and patch using that. Ive never had a problem

so, would it make sense to just pasteurize a little extra, and keep it in a jar set aside for patching time? i thought the point of patching was just to make it so the myc is breaking through evenly throughout the layer, wouldn't the patching material still be just as pasteurized as the layer itself, and not cause any worry because you're simply making it so it'll all break through at the same time?
