Has anyone ever grown a plant, but when it was time to harvest you couldn't do it? Has any one here grown so fond of one of their plants that they couldn't use it for the original purpose? Is that silly? I feel silly.

I know exactly how you feel. After devoting time and effort to my cacti, and then being so happy when they're healthy and green and thick, I couldn't bear to take a knife to them.

yeah i feel a bit that way, although hopefully one day i will have enough of them not to care as much.

i feel this way as well and this past year I bought 3 logs each with a few arms. This way in a few years i will have 7 big arms that could be harvest a few at a time and left to grow back, i look at this as a long term cactus farm. This way i will always have a few doses hanging around if the need arises.

I'm planning on getting a peruvian soon, and I'll have to have several clones before I think about ingesting one.

I'll admit that I'm attached to my pedros. I just keep collecting more and more of um.
I think eventually I'll be able to cut a few of the bigger ones to use though. And I'll root some too.
Plus, cut one stalk and the plants makes 3 or more new stalks right?

to me it seem that its more of a symbiotic relationship, i grow them, and once in a while i take a foot or so from one, and it grows back, the trip is a thank you from the cacti for taking care of it
but this is part of the reason i preferr perennials to annuals, i tend to get attached to my plants, ganja is somehow different, cant figure out why tho

Haha. I think weed is different cause you can see and smell those bid fat ripe buds right in front of your face. They are just dying to be smoked.
With the cacti, the magic is hidden beneath its beautiful and very spikey exterior.

Hmm, agreed!
It is much easier to take buds because it is only a small part of the plant, which eventually turns to seed and falls away if un-harvested. So it would be a waste not to.
Plus MJ grows way quicker.
