Airpump too big?
    #8064853 - 02/24/08 03:03 PM (16 years, 27 days ago)

Got a bit confused between litres and gallons earlier and have bought this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220203204423. According to info on this site, it'd be fine for a 50 gallon fc but my fc is 50 litres or so. Am I likely to run into any problems using an airpump which is too big/ powerful?

"Too much FAE? is there such a thing?"

Check out this post.

The search engine at the top the page is one useful critter. Abuse it like a white woman would have abused opium in good ol' San Fransisco, circa 1890.

Indeed but

Fish pumps are retarded, you shouldn't waste your time. A professional mycology would call people using them morons. You will get better result with open air exchange, there is no debate because of the volume of air. But Because they don't provide nearly enough air unless they're high dollar ones, and even then, you need full length bubble wands and splitters and shit, blah blah blah, when you could just punch holes in it instead and accomplish the same thing, even better.

every time I use an air pump I make sure it's diffused
through a stone and a jar of water, IMO it's really not
necessary depending upon your setup

Too much FAE. I don't think you can actually have too much. The more the better just make sure it's clean air your pumping in there. Use micropore tape over the air intake port. Works like a charm. Hope that helped.

A Fruiting Chamber should in no way shape or form be sterile + it's fully colonized it's virtually contaminant resitant. There's no need. Contaminants and bacteria arise in stale non moving air. Having smaller holes drilled all over increases FAE while still keeping humidity in. Better air currents too.
