I got a yeast infection....
    #8064064 - 02/24/08 11:20 AM (15 years, 11 months ago)

Danmit....
13 jars all covered in tiny white yeast spots after a g2g transfer and thier first shake. I dont know what to do now.
Is this yeast bad if I do spawn and fruit(meaning what will the outcome be). Also how the hell did it get in my jars?

It's in the air everywhere, just like other contaminants. Better luck on the next batch. A laminar flow hood is an excellent investment when moving up to grain to grain transfers, agar, etc.

this is going to be a huge problem here now that more people are doing g2g transfers. I do not even like doing them and I have most of the gear to do it correctly.

I feel your pain rr when it comes to contaminated lc and dirty g2g post.

I was just thinking the girls get yeasties from going back and forth just like a g2g.

Thanks for the input..
So is there any way to isolate a bit of the mycellium to transfer later?
Also does the yeast ever grow into anything more than the little white dots?

Tahoe yo yo Holla RR.. So what is this advantage of doing g2g transfers. Besides being able to take the faster colonizing ones and sort of clone the myc. Is that all or is there some thing I'm a missing.

Ive got one more question:
Does yeast favor an incubater setup?? Because before i used the same sterile technique and no incubater and had no problems with yeast.

I guess im just an lc'man. Why not just use lc and make 100's of jars. And keep throwing out the weaker growing lc and use the best and keep spawning lc to lc to create a stronger growing, fast growing, healthy growing spawn.

IMO it seems like too much work but I could be wrong never knock it till ya try it right?

You know i may just take you up on that. If this g2g isnt going to work why not make an LC...
Except for the fact that there are more steps were one could go wrong in making an LC
