Di/Polyploidy, Colchicine and Autumn Crocus
    #8062476 - 02/23/08 10:02 PM (15 years, 11 months ago)

I've been reading about inducing polyploidy in plants and found out it is popular for cannabis cultivation. I am interested inducing polyploidy in cacti and other plants. After some research I found that the correct crocus to use for the colchicine content is Colchicum autumnale, the Autumn crocus.

As far as taking the actual plant and using it, I found a recipe like this: take crocus bulb and squish in garlic press, mix with water 1:1 or 3:3 (?), strain. no dose amount though.

has anyone used fresh crocus bulbs for colhicine before?

please help me figure this out, thanks

Sorry, this is only partially related to your thread. I have no idea what colhicine is, i googled it and found that it is highly poisonous (similar to arsenic). Are you using it for medical uses or does it have entho properties? Never heard of it 'till now

colchicine is highly poisonous but used for gout treatment and treatment of seeds to induce polyploidy
