Yeah that's happened to me before too...but the flashbacks are hardly noticible...It's like 1/20th the intensity of the visuals you would get on the actual drug LSD.
In other words, no big deal.
Sometimes when I look at my phone, on my contact list my friends names may appear to swell a little bit as I scroll down...that's pretty amusing for me.
Also, every time I drive over the 520 in Seattle I get some great vibes and I kind of feel like some acid is working in my system, just barely, it's a little tinge of feeling of the trip in my body and mind...in case you're wondering, I was heading home from taking a good amount of GREAT LSD when I was on the 520 bridge, and that's when I started to feel it's effects and I loved it....so many memories...ahh...

We must assume behind this force the existence of a conscious and intelligent mind. This mind is the matrix of all matter." --Max Planck

AnarchoTrip said: I'd like some feedback from experienced LSD users, specifically those who claim to have experienced LSD flashbacks.
I've recently been noticing some abnormal visual effects, soberly, and I'm curious as to if they're some form of LSD flashbacks. It's usually triggered by looking at a small, repetative pattern (most commonly really small floor tiles), and then having my eyes go out of focus. I noticed this awhile back while going to the bathroom; the tiles begin to swell and move around, ever so slightly, on the floor in a very similar fashion to while I've been on psychedelics (LSD, specifically). There's been other times it's randomly kicked in, but it is triggered most effectively via the way I just described.
Is that a "flashback?" I read someone else's post awhile back concerning flashbacks as a quirky visual effect that, prior to tripping one would've just assumed "whoa, that was kinda weird;" now, after tripping, however, an experienced user can say "wow, that's a lot like it was when I was tripping." What's yr opinions on that? I think I agree and relate. Also, what's the big deal? I don't get why this is such a phenomenon to people; once our brain has become familiarized with the neuro-pathways of our brains while tripping, it makes sense that we'd be able to go via those transits again. I usually make the analogy of never being taught mathematics, then, after having learnt math, we can easily go down those logical neuropathways again. What's the big freaky deal?
Thanks.
This happens to me all the time too! It's usually after I've been high for awhile or up a long time.. I usually notice it in my bathroom as well.. It's been about 3 months since my last acid trip, and it still happens. I love it.. there's nothing i like better while tripping than staring in one spot and getting lost in the swell. I always feel like I'm tripping in the background when sober... like I'm 98% normal and 2% tripping.

there is a certain amount of shifting you will see if you stare at a pattern long enough, even if you've never tripped before. it's an optical illusion that occurs naturally and is sort of magnified when tripping.

Maybe - but then tripping magnifies it a lot. I'm still green in the psychedelic journey and can recall how the first time I took shrooms changed my vision. Ever since the last July 4th - that's when I took them - things ceased to be still. It's like the world turned dynamic and everything seems to be moving slightly - very very slightly - almost impercievable. Also, in the darkness - the air becomes "fuzzy". btw, is this what "seeing static" is? I've heard people talk about how they see static on the walls and so forth; is this "fuzziness" static?

You might be talking about "snow". Part of minor HPPD.

Finally read what HPPD was.
Didn't mention "snow" though. What's that?
Also, I disliked the tone of wikipedia's entry on HPPD - I really don't think it's a disorder. And I didn't like the part where they distinguished people who didn't take psychedelics as "healthy" individuals.

I don't think I have ever had a flashback, but probobly what some people might claim to be flashbacks, mainly: seeing things shift slightly if I stare at them for a long time, ability to rapidly enter a more meditative or trippy headspace, seeing tracers on bright objects moving quickly over dark backgrounds.
I have never relive a psychedelic experience, nor had any true psychedelic experiences without taking one. I do feel that my appreciation and awareness of beauty have been enhanced from what they ued to be, and that now that certain doors are open I can approach deeper realms of consciousness unaided, and I have some mild visual artifacts.
The static thing, I'm pretty sure I got alot of it even before I tried psychedelics, it's just that I never stared at anything long enough to notice.
I think flashbacks are mostly just hype from the government and medical community feeding people's hypocondriasm and unfamiliarity with non-normative states of consciousness. If what one experiences on a psychedelic is real, and accessible through sober means such as meditation, it shouldn't be suprising that once someone is shown these dimensions that they can see them again.

Seems to me that the world has become much, MUCH more entertaining, beautiful and artistic since my journey with hallucinogens.
Many things I look at become a painting. Um, but... yes.

No, don't even know who that is...civil twilight is technically defined to be the time period when the sun is no more than 6 degrees below the horizon at either sunrise or sunset. But if I hads to describe it, its a short interval, or a peak period, if you will, where the lines between night and day are blurred. It is my favorite time to be tripping, and if you're out in the woods, its truly insane, almost like everything becomes more alive...

ah ok, i was just curious. it's a canadian band. they have a song on their most recent album by the same name.
i do have to agree with you on that time period however, i remember doing that while tripping. very very beautiful, almost indescribable.

they're kinda their own style, most of it's just nice to chill to if you happen to like songs with deep lyrics. most of their songs are written entirely in metaphors and you have to actually think to understand the songs. they include philosophy in some songs, and they seem to have an obsession with cartography. just nice if you like to think about things in a relaxed mood. i've got most of their albums and i think their album Reconstruction Site is still my favourite.
