There was no inspiration.
There was no design.
As I said, I was fucking around in Freehand, and that fell out of my brain.
P.S. Lucky for me, Bobo, I have never seen you make a contribution to this site that would motivate me to consider your opinion as relevant in any way, shape, or form.

You have GOT to be shitting me. Art is for everyone--don't get elitist and uppity. Not cool. I gave an honest opinion of the work he voluntarily posted.
Remind me again--do either of you have any clear understanding of my educational background?
The design is tripe. A stoned high school kid could muster something up in a 50-minute art class that equals, if not surpasses, the design that was offered here.
I have to laugh now. Who is the "artist" trying to impress? How does he assess a given person's opinion?
I'm not saying the guy has no skill; I am only commenting on this particular piece of work.
Glad-handing and semi-enthusiastic, "Yeah, cool, man" comments aren't helpful at all.
So, if you choose to put a piece up for show, you may find that some people don't like it.
At least I'm being honest--and that's what I'd expect from anyone that reads any of my stories.
I'm not being a dick, man. Keep your chin up. This piece doesn't do it for me, though. I think you can do much better.

You're right. I can do much better, and have in the past.
I didn't come in here asking for opinions or criticism. I simply posted a piece of visual entertainment in a forum where those who perceive it as such can enjoy it. I am sorry you didn't.

Maybe if you had applied this kind of respectful tact in your first response, you would not have been perceived as a dick.
Peace.

No one. Not everyone posts creative work for praise. For some, it is just to express the soul. To let others touch that soul, if they so choose.
It's fucking ironic that you would go around critiquing art and then complain that others aren't appreciating your (unrequested) opinion.
All art is beautiful in the eye of the beholder. If you cannot BE the beholder for a given piece, then that is your problem and not the artist's.

Hey, man--if you post a piece, you're going to get comments. Just take them for what they are--comments. Ignore or reflect upon the comments as you see fit. It's your stuff and you're ultimately the one in control.
You're quite free to post a piece of your work; I'm free to speak my mind in this forum so long as it is informed by your work, and not deliberately antagonizing. Like I said, mine was just an honest reaction. Ignore it if you like.

Right, so you "Quote for Truth" the artist's dismissal of my opinion? My response to you was not abrasive--you were just piling on top of the, "Bobo is an idiot, has no idea about design, form, coloring, use of space" crap.
That's pretty lame. You have a nice knee-jerk reaction. Short-cut to thinking.
Would you like to discuss the merits of the posted work? I've got some time.

Well said Moth.
As for the merits of the work? I'd say that it is aesthetically pleasing, relevant to the website, and a very appealing shade of blue. If it were made into a T-shirt, I would wear it all over the place. The shroomery is a place where mushrooms bring people from all over the world together, and one of those people happened to put that (in my opinion) into a very pleasing image.
