problems initiate pinning with cakes

I'm mostly a casing person the art of cakes just don't seem to interest me. I can't stand not knowing what these cakes need when I'm sure I'm giving them everything they need. Some are made with whole wheat flour and some with brf, I don't label my jars when I'm growing this many but I'm starting to think that the ones that are growing are the brf and the ones that aren't might me the whole wheat flour. They all colonized so I wouldn't think it could make much of a difference. I'm tired of other cultivators in my town telling me stupid shit. This guy once told me that I can't use a white light because the UV rays will kill the mushroom. Seriously can you say anything dumber? Oh wait just a minute ago he told me that the soil I'm using for casing will take all the nutrients from the mushroom and only pin but wont grow any bigger than that. ptff dumbass.
I know patience is key to this sorta thing but I'm starting to get pissed off when my cakes don't pin after 2 weeks... It really shouldn't take that long. I have holes in my mono tub with polyfil to help FAE (frequently exchanged air) I still fan them every once in a while. humidity is up and fanning is good. the temperature is around 75F but sometimes I turn on the heated blanket under the bin to raise humidity. blue part light about a foot above the bin.
Let me give you an idea of what my mushrooms are doing... growing really low on the cake and loving to grow near the perlite. (I actually flipped the cakes over so the bottom pinning mushrooms can be on the top of the cake)
Oh yeah I'm growing Penis Envy's which I'm starting to think is harder than most other cubensis strains I have tried in the past.
Oh yeah, I noticed that the cakes that are growing nicely are a lot lighter in weight than the other ones. I was thinking maybe they just retained more water when I dunked and shocked them.
I don't know, any input on anything?

Yeah, don't discuss your cultivation with ANYONE, especially someone cultivating themselves. Guess what's going to happen if they get busted and the cops start offering them a deal if they snitch?
KNOCK, KNOCK. Who's there?
THE FUCKING FEDERALES!

you don't know this guy... and you don't know my relationship with him... Friend of a brother for 13 years makes him pretty reliable.

Yeah, that's what KaptKid thought too. 15+ year friend did him in.

After your dunk, did you roll em in vermiculite? I heard that helps. Humidity needs to be 95% minimum, make sure your tub doesn't take out all the humidity with the holes/fanning.

It's pretty common for pins to grow close to the perlite because that's where the most humidity is at. Did you roll the cakes in verm after dunking? Doing that and misting the cakes keeps moisture on the surface, which helps pinning/fruiting.
Also, you mentioned using a monotub with perlite. Typically a monotub is used with a bulk sub because it retains humidity better. If you're using perlite and cakes, you might want to check out RR's shotgun fruiting chamber. It would create a better environment for your cakes than a monotub.

half of them I did and half I didn't.. the ones that were rolled actually have much better results in my case. the water on the sides of the bin drip I think enough.

Condensation does not neccessarily = high humidity. I would recommend covering all or most of the holes with some tape and hand fanning. I would also redunk and roll the cakes that weren't rolled.
Edit: I forgot to add that my experience with the PE strain is that it fruits a little slower than some of the other strains I've worked with.

That is a good idea to re dunk and than roll the ones I didn't.. as far as the humidity, when I do open the lid A blast of mist hits my face and the smell of mushrooms as well

I would fan at least 3 times a day. Mist hits your face? Do you have a ultrasonic humidifier running or something?
