Sorry, Chicago

At least another year.

One of the kids in my house who's from Chicago threw the remote at the TV when he read that on ESPN's bottom line. Poor guy.

Honestly, he's the best quarterback we have.

Make of that what you may, it is the truth.

And if you care, my heart literally skipped a beat because I thought something had happened w/ the Cubs. I was sure Zambrano had just be indicted for smuggling cocaine or something.

Y'all could get Joe Flacco or someone at fourteenth pick.

Probably not, but I figure Brohm and Ryan will be gone top ten, so if Flacco is the third best (according to all the experts) he'd be available.
They could possibly get him at 46th, as weell, if they want.

Guy's got a fucking rocket, saw some show with him, launched a ball 78 yards in the air, with it slipping coming out and not being a spiral

My new hope is that we signed Rexy so we can trade him and our pick to the Dolphins for their #1 overall. There is no way they want to pick that high, and all I want for Christmas is Darren McFadden.

Have y'all officially given up on Benson? 'Bout time.

Oh, yeah.

I was done with him after his rookie season. The guy is a fucking bum. Why we got rid of Thomas Jones will forever remain a mystery to me. I guess you just can't cut your first-round pick, even if the other player is clearly better.

The Bears are just perpetually fucked. It's depressing, really. Kind of a microcosm of the Chicago sports scene in general. We never have moderately successful teams. We have teams that flash greatness for some short period of time every couple of decades, and then are just atrocious for the next 20 years.

I have no explanation for it, but its horrible.

Coaches hate to drop a player they drafted high, makes it look like they fucked up their decision.
I know in Tampa Gruden refuses to lose Simms, in fact signed him to a two year 10 mil contract.
He didn't play a down the next season.
He's never been that good, for one, and they gave him that contract after it was confirmed he probably wouldn't be able to play for a long time.
Fucking idiot bastard.

All that you say is true. That and the Zambrano thing.

I look at teams like the Lakers, what are they on, their 3rd championship caliber team in 17 years now? They get Pau for nothing and the bulls get Larry Hughes? Teams like the Broncos get Elway and Cutler, we get Rick Mirer and Rex. 3 of the 4 expansion teams have made it to the world series, 2 have won it (one of 'em twice) and the Cubs....

The list goes on.

We're going to get an OL first round. We already dropped two starters.

I'm more worried about receivers. It doesn't look like we're going to cough up the dough for Berrian, so that'll leave us with Bradley and Hester.

The entire Bears offense is doomed to terminal suckitude.

The QB sucks, the RB sucks, the WRs suck, the line sucks. Only the tight end could even conceivably be called competent, and even that is more a consequence of his not yet being proved incompetent due to lack of playing time.

There are so many gaping holes that it would be impossible to fill them all if you had the first five picks of the draft. Mired in the middle of the pack on draft day, the Bears will be lucky if they are able to plug even one of those holes and will likely be condemned to another year of offensive mediocrity complemented by a great defense that is ferociously stingy by necessity.

As long as Urlacher's back doesn't fall off. It seems depressing to me to contemplate as I watch Urlacher fall apart that we may waste the entire lifespan of this exceptional defense by shackling them to this pathetic excuse for an offense. One of the truly great defensive units of all time we've had for five or six years now. It really fucking sucks as a fan. And you know all those long-time defensive players must be sick as dogs over it.

Ugh. Listen to me. It's February and I'm bitching about the Bears.

But fuck that. It's baseball season and Big Z is ready.

Are you?

Last year the Bears defense wasn't good. It was due to injuries, but it was still true.

Silver linings, man.

There's no way your injuries or running game can get any worse, so it's all up from here.

Well, we have two good tight ends this year. And if we don't keep Berrian, we should have enough money to pick someone up via Free Agency. I really don't know what they're going to do for QB - they will probably draft someone, but that won't help this year.

Wolfe could be good for a back up HB, but we really need someone who can carry the load for the majority. Benson is worthless.

I'm not worried about the line - with two tight ends and a first round lineman. I'm wondering how the fuck they are going to score.

They need a real #1 receiver. Berrian is a real good #2.
