MAX CREEK should be on the cover of Relix magaz... (more) Added: November 24, 2007 MAX CREEK should be on the cover of Relix magazine, but few outside of the area know who they are. They are New England's best kept secret. These guys have been putting out great music and playing awesome live shows since the early 70's, and we are very grateful that they consistly do this. We are also grateful for an organization like Wormtiown (www.wormtown.com) for making the New England jam band scene vibrant. On the night before Thanksgiving 2007, a couple of friends and I ventured from our home base in Boston , down to Lupo's in Providence to see the band. It was an incredible show, and I am happy to have this chance to share some video of the show with everybody. I captured the video using my new Canon TX1 high def camera. I am still learning how to work it, so I apologize for the low light, and distorted sound. I also apologize for the fact that my lens was distracted several times by lovely dancing female Creek fans. I hope you all enjoy this. Long live Max Creek.
If you like that then there is more on youtube and archive.org Check em out. They are hot!!!

Some other good ones are;
Hawkwind ("Space Ritual" is a good place to start) Monster Magnet (epsecially their earlier stuff from the 90's) Captain Beyond Nebula Fu Manchu
Those are my suggestions, based on what you said you are into, for starters. Hawkwind is very psychedelic and sounds a lot like early Pink Floyd.

Here is a Captain Beyond video;
Line-up was Rod Evans (the original lead singer for Deep Purple), Lee Dorman and Larry Reinhart (both from Iron Butterfly) and Bobby Caldwell (Johnny Winter's drummer). They only made 2 albums before they broke-up. Their first album from 1972, which was self titled, is a classic.

If you like jazz/rock/fusion, if you don't already have it, Chicago Transit Authority is a great album too.
