One phrase I've become aware of and generally agree with is: "When left to its own devices the mind tends to travel the darkest path." In your case these moments of obsessive self-conscious anxiety-provoking introspection would seem to constitute the aforementioned path, and though part of the explanation comes from the mushroom experience it's important not to underestimate the significance of living alone after living with people. Can you be more specific about what happens during those uncomfortable periods of time? What is the nature of your thoughts? (If that's too personal I understand.)

To me it sounds like you are beginning to engage in meta cognition. Or, thinking about thinking.
This is actually what I believe to be an important part of self-development. Instead of fearing/fighting thinking about yourself why don't you embrace it?
Perhaps what you are really fearing is some realization about yourself that you have been suppressing. Explore this and use it as an opportunity to grow.

These "moments" your having, they may feel a bit strange, but they won't do any harm to you.
I have had similar moments where I am very concious about my thoughts.
If you fight it, then it will feel weird, but if you relax, and EMBRACE, it will die down and integrate and you won't even notice it.
It can be a bit scary taking that first step over the edge so to speak.
Basically, you probably got stuck in a thought loop, or another strange thought concept, that your not used to. Realise what was going on, what the actual subject of the thought was, and why it scares you.
You'll be fine.

He's not belittling you man, he's giving you the best advice that anyone here can. If you were "feeling uncomfortable and wanting the feeling to stop", it's because you were struggling against the effects, either consciously or subconsciously. Until you learn how to let go of your baseline cognition, you'll probably be stuck with similar confusion and panic attacks while tripping on anything, weed included.
If you take offense to that kind of advice, do whatever you want to do. Just know that the uncomfortable effects that mushrooms had on you were due to nothing outside of your own mind, and that to remedy them and get in some enjoyable psychedelic experiences.
As for you having weird feelings even while sober since that trip, that is common and certainly sounds familiar to all of us. It's not that the drug is still in your body or that it damaged your brain, but that you're thinking about things differently now, and are perhaps not fully accustomed to that change.

I understand this part, but that wasnt what i was asking.
It sounded like he was saying "if u dont like it, you shouldnt have done it in the first place" - yet everyone says its a learning curve and taking on new thoughts and growing to accept it etc.... make your mind up? Anyway thats all done.
Landcrab "Can you be more specific about what happens during those uncomfortable periods of time? What is the nature of your thoughts?" - The first one, was "kill myself"? Ive had nothing even remotely near that since, but that first one was super freaky. Im not depressed, i dont want to kill myself. It was just like a second voice threw it in there, and I was lying there thinking Why am i thinking that? Then it was why am i thinking about my thoughts, and so on. I think id had a joint earlier that night, and it was the same time as the dog howling outside etc.
Afterwards its just been random stuff, cant even pick out what the actual thoughts were, its more my realisation that im noticing it that got me.
Asknoquestions - "Perhaps what you are really fearing is some realization about yourself that you have been suppressing. Explore this and use it as an opportunity to grow" Reckon this is prob right. Been thinking bout moving back home for a bit, goes hand in hand with the being alone thing.

Don't be afraid to question your death, or even think about it.
You will die one day, so you only have fear to fear.
I remember my first time on acid, the music was really pushing me to strange thoughts, so I shut my eyes, and started imagining/visualizing aliens coming down and killing everyone, the last person was me, and they had their guns to my head, and just as the music reached the peak, they pulled their triggers.
Just as they did that the music shot off, and I opened my eyes to find myself exactly where I was before. You only have fear to fear IMO.
