Day 18 now and zero growth

OK, it is now 18 days since my cat inoculated 10 pftek jars. The 5 jars of B+ that he did are almost 100% colonized but the 5 jars of aussie show absolutely no growth . No myc, no contams, nothing. My question is now, should I reinnoculate those 5 jars with another strain or dump them out and start over? Any help is appreciated.

Are you sure the spores are viable? 18 days is a long time with NO signs of growth. I personally would start over. Might even pressure cook the five jars again, then inoculate. Good luck.

Questions To Narrow It Down
1. Do you still have the foil on them? 2. Where did you buy your spores? 3. How did you prepare the jars?

I know the jars are prepared well because my cat did 10 all in the same batch. They were all inoculated in the same way at the same time. 5 from a B+ syringe and 5 from an aussie syringe. Since, all ten jars have sat in the same cabinet above the fridge. There is no foil over them, but all jars have micropore over the holes. The only variable that I can identify is that they were different syringes. The aussie must have been bunk. Both syringes came from the same distributer in the same shipment.

I've gotten some syringes from a shroomery sponsor that I could never get to grow. Since then i've examined them under a microscope. They seem to be viable. I didn't raise any static with them, since I am a still extremely new. I've had great luck with other sources however. I don't know what the deal was. Most likely something I did. Best of luck.

Take them off the cabinet and put them at room temperature. I assume you watched 'Mushrooms Made Easy'? on google video?

Yeah, I not pissed about it or anything. I'm new to this too and I expect some failure. I just want to know whether it is a good idea to reinnoculte the jars with another syringe or should I start over.

They are at room temp, temps fluctuate 72-75 degrees in there.

1. never ever reinoculate. 2. Just because you don't see a contam, does not mean one isn't there, my guess is bacteria (from your own mouth) 3. it takes less time and energy to toss those jars and start again.

Don't toss em...! Just leave them at room temperature and wait. Do a new batch and you'll end up most likely with the same results.
But keeping em that long and nothing happening. Things are wrong. Probably is contaminated but I wouldn't toss out the jars just yet.
