dried mushrooms turning blue?
    #8057955 - 02/22/08 07:15 PM (15 years, 11 months ago)

I have dried my mushrooms in an enclosed wooden cabinate with a fan running and a space heater that makes it about 85' F. They feel airy and dry. I put them in a bag. I looked about 4 hours later and some are blueing! Why? What happens to the blueing mushies then? They trash?

As Far as i know, blue only indicates bruising, so they should be edible. but check out the rest of the site, im sure you can find some info on it.

If they don't snap like crackers when you bend them, they're not 100% dry. Use a desiccant chamber to finish drying them.

I'm glad I caught them becuase someone I gave some to as a gift told me they turned black and were damp so I checked my master stash and saw that some had indeed turned color and were slightly moist again. I put them in front of a fan last night and they didnt lose much weight which is good and I pinched tested them and if they crunched then they went back into the bag. THIS time I put a silica gel pack in the bag before I sealed it with as little spit as possible. I think it'll be good now. I'll keep an eye on em though. I'm happy, this flush weighes out to 20grams with some more still drying. Best flush EVER for me, hands down :hippie:
