Astral Projection/Sleep Paralysis/Lucid Dreaming/Remote Viewing
    #8056726 - 02/22/08 02:27 PM (15 years, 11 months ago)

Obviously, this thread is for people who believe in the possibility of astral projection/remote viewing or who have had lucid dreams or sleep paralysis.
Please don't post just to raise the BS flag on remote viewing/astral projection.

Ever since I was a kid, I've had lucid dreams frequently.
People have told me that most people lose the ability by age 6-10.
In my dreams, whether they are lucid or not, I can normally fly. I do this by, for lack of better words, flexing a certain "mental muscle". It feels like part of my brain is turning on in the dream, and I go rushing upwards, sometimes so violently I feel vibrations and rushing all around me. If I go high enough like this, everything begins to "change", but then normally, I hit some sort of ceiling, and feel myself being pulled back down, like the "muscle" has tired itself out.

Once, freshman year, I became aware of my surroundings, while still technically asleep. My room mate was at his computer, and I could see him, even though I always had a sheet draped around my bed to block light out. My body was buzzing and vibrating intensely, and I was trying to scream, or thrash around, anything, to get him to help me. The more I fought the worse it got. I couldn't breathe, felt like I was suffocating, thought I was dying. Eventually I gave up, and kind of drifted off into nothingness. Afterwards, I learned its called "sleep paralysis".

Some time later, I was sleeping at my parents home, and "woke up". I wasn't fully awake, but I was indeed conscious on some level. I realized I was looking at my ceiling, and kind of turned, and looked at the wall. While I looked at the wall, I kind of moved forward, and my sight passed through the wall. I saw into the room next to mine, where my mother was folding laundry. Then, a thought entered my head- I realized my eyelids were closed. With that realization, I rushed back into my body. I didn't want to but I did. My eyes shot open, and I was laying on my back looking at the ceiling. I jumped out of bed, ran down the hall, and into the next room, and my mother was standing there, folding laundry.

My next step is to attempt astral projection. Has anyone successfully projected before? Any tips, pointers, anything? My understanding is that on the verge of waking/sleep, you can will your spirit, or astral self, out of your body and enter the astral plane, and travel there.

I knew you were going to respond and be a mini-dick...
Whether its real and your "spirit" leaves your body and travels in a spirit realm, or whether its all in your head is irrelevant. The fact is, most people never experience it. But the people who do, report remarkable similarities in their experiences. One example is the silver umbilical cord that leads from their astral self back to their bodies... a lot of people see this.
Kind of sounds like the ka and ba in ancient Egypt... one part of the spirit leaves to soar in the heavens while the other part remains behind with the body.

Ive had some strange stuff happen while dreaming and inducing Wake induced lucid dreams, I practice this frequently and find it much more "interesting" than any drug I have ever done.

Anything is possible.

Try the wake induced, they are very intense and very trippy.

You meditate util you are in sleep paralasis and then when you feel heavey and like energy is running through your body, roll out of your body and tada your in a very vivid dream.

You need to have had 8 hours of sleep before doing this otherwise you will more than likely go directly into a dead sleep. Its hard but it pays off. Some of my experiences have been nuts.

sleep paralysis has been fucking with me more and more lately, not sure why. just a couple days ago, i actually opened my eyes but was still technically asleep. i look across the room and see this piece of slightly crumpled paper, upside down, with black writing on it i couldn't read, and it kind of jittered up the wall, and onto the ceiling. from here it started moving across the ceiling, it faded out of view for a few seconds as i became more conscious & awake, and then reappeared where it would've been if it had kept moving a couple feet closer and then i fully woke up (eyes never actually were closed from the moment i saw the paper) and it dissappeared.

very very bizarre. i also will have the same thing happen and have crazy auditory hallucinations - will hear people talking, or a guitar playing, or hear someone in my apartment, and this usually scares the shit out of me and i end up waking up a little panicked, only to realize shortly thereafter it was just my head fucking with me.

By the way...

http://irvalibrary.com/papers/CIA_RV_SRI.html

Read on that. The CIA has done a lot of studies with Remote Viewing. President Carter even publicly admitted its potential.
