Use a notebook, preferably one of those that has sections.
e.g. ------------------------------------------------------- Spawn Batch 1 - Spawn001
Jar Count: 4x1 pint Spawn: Rye Prep Method: Quick step rye prep PC'd : 100 mins Strain: Keepers Creeper Inoculant: Syringe001 (syringe 001) Inoculated: 2/1/2008 Quantity: 2cc
2/1/08 - Jars cooled, inoculated with Keepers Creeper from xxxxxxxxx. 2/6/08 - Germination spotted. 2/10/08 - Jars had 2 inch patch of myc. Gave em a good shake.
------------------------------------------------------- Then a small note on the top of each jar that says Spawn001a, Spawn001b, Spawn001c and Spawn001d. Spore Prints, Syringes, Batches of Spawn, Batches of Sub, Casing, Trays and batches of PF Tek jars all get a code and can be cross referenced.
When in the FC I have started to use those little white plastic plant markers stuck into the perlite.
I also use little colored sticky dots for easy strain recognition. Red - Keepers Creeper Yellow - Golden Teacher Green - Cambodian etc...

What else do you need? Just write down the name of the strain on the foil or what ever you used to cover it up with.

This only works, when you have a few prints of one species. If you have like about 200 prints of a species, it's gonna be hard to close the book

I've got no where near that many prints going on. In the case of large amounts of prints from one grow I'd record them as a batch. e.g.
----------------- Print Batch 001 - PB001 Source - Tray002 Strain - Cambodian Date Taken - 2/2/08 Total Prints - 20
2/4/08 - 10 prints sent to www.fsre.nl (PB001a-j) 2/10/08 - PB001k used to make 50cc spore water -> SW002 ----------------- Then label them PB001a, PB001b etc... In that case 200 prints would be 10 pages.
Why so many prints? A print goes a long long way especially with g2g...
I have only been running the book for a few months, only time will tell if it is of any long term value. As I also use it as a log grows I can see what works and what doesn't when experimenting. It has definately speeded up the learning process for me.
