Any advice? How much I should take?
I got a bottle that contains 60 3mg tablets.
Any other experiences?

One pill will knock you way out. Taking two is fine, I wouldn't take three or more though, might wake up with a headache or just feel groggy. Try not to take it every single night for too long either, give it a rest once in a while. It's not addictive, but your body may become used to having that extra 3mg just to sleep.
Why are you using it? To fix sleeping schedule? To sleep more?
Oh, but when taking melatonin pills, you are 1000% guaranteed to have lots of dreams.

Well, that was the point of interest - dreams.
And sleep, yes, catching up.

Dreams? Then take just one or two before you sleep. If you're going to take two, I'd take one between 1 - 4 hours before you sleep, then the right when you go to sleep. You will dream.
For sleep schedule changing, it's best to alter your schedule one hour earlier each day, by taking the melatonin about two hours before you normally sleep. Just slowly ease into it. You can't just make a total 180, changing your sleep schedule hours in time.
If you try that, then what will happen is you will pass out and have a melatonin nap for about 3 or 4 hours, then wake up and be awake like normal, then just go back to sleep at your regular time anyway.
Oh and on the subject of getting MORE sleep, not really changing your schedule, just lengthening it, just go I would take it 3 - 4 hours before normal time. The melatonin-nap will attach itself to your normal hours of sleep.

Take two.
One doesn't knock me out unless I'm already fairly relaxed. Often, two doesn't do it either, but that could be more of a unique case.
The melatonin nap mentioned above sucks. Waking up four hours into it and being COMPLETELY awake is problematic.

Yes, but what kind of melatonin do you have?
My girlfriend got a bottle that each pill is 300 mcg. MICROGRAMS! That's an insanely small amount, 3 mg is way more. And it seems to knock me out always, unless I start doing melatonin every night, or I try to take a melatonin nap when I'm super hyper/awake.

Oh, and I don't know if this is just me, or what, but... shit, I shouldn't say this on the shroomery boards 'cause now everyone is gonna rush out to try it. But if I take 2 - 4 pills, 6 - 12mg, as I'm laying there awake, I think I got auditory (only) hallucinations. They were not good. Just like little noises here and there. Footsteps. As you are dozing off, you hear a voice say something, your name, or a word, or some unintelligible sentence, and it freaks you out and wakes you up. All auditory hallucinations (if they even were, they might have just been real noises, people in the other room, or like rats or something) were all bad and creepy.
Might just be me though. It's very rare and never had it unless on 2 or more pills of melatonin (and nothing else). And they are short, half-second noises that startle you. And usually only one, maybe two happen per night. Not fun in the dark.

I have the 3mg pills.
Also, I have had slight auditory hallucinations when taking 3 pills. Like you said, you may wake up and think someone said something, but I haven't associated all of them with negative things. No rats in the walls or anything.

Well damn, if I ever take 3, I wake up groggy, almost hungover kinda feeling. For a lot of people, the 300mcg makes them pass out, and 3mg is 10x that.
So Matthew, I guess just try one pill and see what that does, experiment, but whatever works for you, 1 pill or 2 or 3, it does basically the same thing. Will make you sleepy, most likely will make you sleep, will make you dream.
Nothing special about the dreams though. That is to say, a normal dream compared to a melatonin dream. They may be a little bit more detailed, and you may remember them more, but all dreams are weird... usually.

I'm a pretty vivid dreamer to start with and melatonin doesn't really cause any difference, minus some more stimulation of my 'senses' within the dreams. Only way to find out how it works with which doses is to try it.

Not in combo, but yes. Tea = gross. Seems to work just as well. Lemonbalm works too. http://www.mothernature.com/Library/Bookshelf/Books/41/75.cfm
I haven't tried tryptophan (other than eating lots of turkey), anyone ever tried 5HTP pills for sleep?

I just finished off a bottle of the stuff. A lot of the time I find that melatonin works in knocking me out, but I just end up waking up 3 or 4 hours later, WIDE awake and unable to go back to sleep. pretty lame if you ask me, but it's better than nothing i suppose. Also, I have mild to moderate anxiety, and I'm starting to suspect that's why I'm not sleeping as soundly...I wake up tired usually, and am sorta wondering if it's because my brain isn't actually resting itself properly during sleep. ie: the anxiety somehow continues on into my brain's sleeping state.
my melatonin's actually kicking in right now...time to crash

I had 2 3mg pills last night.
It made me drift off into sleep within 5 minutes of me hitting the pillow, but, beyond that nothing but a mild "empty" feeling in my head this morning.
The dreams weren't even that vivid. I don't even remember a dream. I'll try it again on Sunday or something.
