Is it possible to write a book in both past and present tense, can anyone point to an example of this?

Yes, House of Sand and Fog by Andre Dubus III.

Great book; follows two first person narratives, one present tense, one past tense.

It's about two desperate people who don't know each other who are both given legal rights to the same house through some bureaucratic mixup.

I think he means simutaneously.

if so then the only thing I can think of is a page or two from Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. I cant remember which book it is, but it goes into detail about how Zaphod Beeblebrox is his own grandfather.

that link will help.
