Can I print a mushroom that isn't fresh?

I am very sorry if this has been covered already but I have read through a couple TEKs and searched and could not find a specific answer to this question. So do the mushies have to be fresh, or is it possible to print some that I got from someone else?
Thanks in advance!

I wouldn't try printing it. It's sure to have an assload of contams. You would have better luck doing some agar work with it.

I don't want you not to try working with agar, but since you seem to be unexperienced, it's most likely that you'll fail with it.
It's always worth a try, don't get me wrong, but don't expect too much!
I'd try to get my hands on a print and start off the regular way.

Did the same thing once, wiped it all down with an alcohol swab and dug into it with a sterile scalpel and needle syringe, transfered a gill piece to an agar petri. It grew myc quickly with no contams. After all that work, I ended up with contams when I transfered the agar my to a grain jar. I kicked myself in the ass, at that time I was broke and I used my last agar petri. So it can be done.
