mycelium at work
    #8054092 - 02/21/08 09:31 PM (15 years, 11 months ago)

I have just recently moved to the Pacific Northwest and spent the fall/winter keeping my eye out for actives; haven't found anything, but I haven't actually hunted. Anyway, today at work I noticed this white ropy mycelium running all over the wooden stakes that I use to plant trees with. I think the stakes are made of pine, but I'm not so sure. The mycelium smells very nice and I'm wondering if it may be something worthwhile.

Anyone know if pine is a desirable wood for cyans? I was considering scraping some mycelium off and transferring it onto some damp corrugated cardboard just to see if it would work. Also wondering if anyone knows of any scent cues or visual ways to id some mycelium...looks like good cube mycelium to me, but I guess it could be anything.

Mycelium is completely unidentifiable until it fruits. Sorry.
