Fruiting in a consistently cold temperature.
    #8053839 - 02/21/08 08:34 PM (15 years, 11 months ago)

Hello everyone, this is my first post on the boards because up until now I have found every answer I was looking for. But today my question seems a bit specific and I can't find it through searching. My problem is that I have fully colonized PF cakes that I have had sitting in my fruiting chamber for about 3 weeks now. The temperature is usually about 60-65 degrees and has dropped to about 55 on colder nights. My question is will my cakes ever fruit at this kind of temperature, and if not will raising the temperature be able to save them and cause them to fruit? I'm just worried that after being cold for so long my cakes might be done. :frown:

shouldn't be a big deal..

did you give them the extra week in the incubator after fully colonizing?

what do they look like? bluing? any pins/knots forming?

let us know.. pics would help.

What! you dont need a temp that high to fruit.

that is alittle on the cool side for fruiting. i think it will still work it will just take longer thats all. the upside is that you should get meatier fruits and stalks growing in the lower temps

For Optimal Fruiting parameters:

Relative Humidity: 95-100%.
Air Temperature: 74 - 78°F / 23.3 - 25.5°C.

Does that mean you are screwed if you can't get the temperature up to 74 ? No. What it means is that fruiting may take much longer and give you a lower yield than optimal conditions.

What do I suggest?

1. Since they have been in your FC for 3 weeks, they are likely dehydrated, even with misting. I suggest doing a 24 hour refrigerator dunk, then rolling in vermiculite and putting back in your newly designed, temperature friendly Fruiting chamber.

Good luck my friend.

Do NOT heat the tub. Heat the room.

And dont gather information from 10 year old threads, new things become old pretty fast in a relstively young craft such as home bulk cultivation of cubes. Stick to newer Teks to avoid misinformation. I mean generally in old threads. Dangerous place for beginners no joke I've been there.

None of this is right.

Don't use heating mats. Most Cubes do not come from South America, and Ps. Cubensis is the species. You don't need it to be extra hot.
