Largest shroom, looked fine, until I cut the base.

Not a hint of any color but white on the jar, until it came time to pick the largest of the bunch. While cutting the very thick base I noticed inside the stem was very green. I understand there's some bruising color, but this stuff was discovered upon cutting the base off the cake.
This is the stem base, cut facing you. That looks a bit nasty. I heard of bluish green color, but it looks like a mold got into the mushies.
Edit: I forgot to mention the mushrooms I collected from a different jar also had that green color in the lower base of the stems. Is this normal, its ugliness amplified by the size and thickness of the initial mushroom or do I toss it? Is there any further examining I can do to come to a conclusion? I probably had an overabundance of moisture in the jars, as I was told of the white fuzz growing up my stems, if that adds anything useful.

Looks like bruising to me. Can you rub it off? If not, I would say they are fine.

Well that color was there immediately upon cutting. The color's embedded in the stem, runs up it some ways. I cut some stems I had drying, and it appears the further up, the less blue/green color

Joe, take a q-tip and lightly brush the blue/green area. If a powdery residue comes off onto the q-tip, it is mould. If not, then it is bruising.

It's bruising. Was iffy because the bruising happened so fast, but the time I looked it turned blue/green.

Hey guys
Thank you for this thread. This made me feel much better about the mushrooms I just harvested from my first ever batch. I have 12 cakes that all had very strong and vibrant mycelium. After picking the first round, I did indeed notice some bruising. However, that same bruising color is now on a few of the cakes themselves. Does that sound like an infection, or can the mycelium bruise?
Also, the areas where I picked some of the larger shrooms on the cakes now have no mycelium. You can see the brown rice cake beneath. Is this a danger area for infection? I will include a few photos if needed.
Thank you!
