Definately Cortinarius sp Subgenus Myxacium or Phlegmacium, as soon as these start fruiting again I will do some more work on identifying them, it's not an easy one though!!! inski

yours is crazy hard CC. It seems like it would be easy, but nooooooo. I can't find it in any of my books, although I think I might know the genus.

#2 looks like a parasite attacking a mushroom. I'm not to familiar with my parasites, but maybe a hypomyces of some kind. Just a wild guess. Hypomyces hyalinus. Or chrysospermum. Probably wrong. Those arn't easier.

These guys-

Are Melanoleuca verrucipes.
I spent hours trying to ID them originally. No one at the Mycological Society of San Francisco had a clue (in fact, they argued that they were most likely brown spored- but of course they turned out light. A pale cream/white.). I ended up bringing some fresh specimens to SFSU to have the resident Mycologist and Scientific Advisor for the MSSF, Dennis Desjardin, take a look at them. He was totally stumped until he looked at them under the microscope, and was then certain they were Melanoleuca. I suggested we search google images for "melanoleuca" to try and find a photo that looks similar and be able to ID it to species. After pages and pages of scrolling, we finally ran across a photo of Melanoleuca verrucipes, and it matched perfectly with my collection. Only catch was, it's only described from Europe. So this was a first official (other SOMA hunters had found the same mushrooms before, and run into the same ID troubles, but i guess they didn't decide to deposit the specimens in any herbarium) documentation. It was pretty cool.
