I can see it being covered, but it's so cloudy and snowing lightly right now that it's real hit or miss.

So if I understand correctly, after the moon is covered it will start to get red?

We're having a real treat here in the Northeast. Crystal clear skies and the eclipse is approaching totality.

Just imagine that this is exactly what Dec. 2012 will be like.
Nothing more than this.

there's a 10% chance I'll see it through a break in the clouds, and snap another photo of it similar to this one.

I was prepping to photograph the eclipse with that shot. But it looks like clouds will be on the menu for the evening.

I doubt it - it's more of an alignment of energies.

I just got back inside - the current status of the Moon is too dark for photography.

i thought it was a physical planetary alignment plus we align with the dark rift.

At least you have the Moon blocked by clouds - that's also an eclipse, of sorts.
