Just thought i would share in my excitement and joy!
I went with a potted 18-24 incher, should be a good investment i believe.
... now i must figure out a name for my soon to be ravaged cacti harlot.

Congrats! The first of many, I bet.
Make sure you have a good, basic soil mixture for them. 1:1:1 3/8" minus grade limestone, topsoil, and cow manure, with a handful of dolomitic lime, as described here will give it that healthy blue-green color instead of the sickly greenish yellow we often see.
Mine love to be outside after the last frost; they do get burns in full sun, however. With enough light and good soil, yours will get big in no time.

Are there any good pre-mixed cactus soil mixtures out there for a Pedro?
I am having a hard time finding some good soil for replanting.

Just about any hardware store should have some different ones. Ive been using Miracle Grow: Cactus and Citrus.

Someone will more than likely correct me. But I use the pre-mixed soils, then add some desert sand in as well. But here I just drive into the desert and fill up a couple of buckets.

it depends on what your sand looks like if it is not course it is not good for your cacti, it compacts your soil
i personally don't use sand any more just some perlite will do.
cacti mix _ 20% perlite
also MG mixes are one of the worst because they have lots of wood chips in them!

Man you are always full of soo much wisdom, I had noticed the excess of mulch in the MG cactus soil, but wasnt worried, my cutting that I planted developed a green mold on the bottom.
The sand I use is very coarse, almost rocky, it seems ideal.
I will definitely keep this in mind as I look to plant 3 more cuttings here in the next week or two.

I just wanted to mention that if making your own cactus soil mix charcoal is very useful for providing nutrients,I make my own using 6-8 40lb bags of potting soil (sifted, because the cheap stuff has many sticks and twigs)one bag of perlite (8 dry quarts size) about 20lbs of course sand,2-3quarts of charcoal(small size pieces) . I'm sure everyone has there own idea of what works for them as the items I have listed above have worked well for me and is also cheap ,probably any cactus soil from a store will work for you until you do enough trial and error to figure out what works best for you. Anyways good luck,Patrick
